Catch the Vision – An Emerging Spirit

The United Church of Canada is celebrating their 85^th Anniversary on Thurs.  June 10^th, 2010 at Churchill Square in Edmonton.  Edmonton Presbytery and Alberta and NW Conference are co-sponsoring the celebration from noon to 9 p.m.  There will be a formal presentation beginning at 2 p.m.  We will be hearing  from our many partners in faith and community and connecting via web conferencing with other across the church and at church house.

Our event in Edmonton is being presented in the tradition of a chautauqua, an education and entertainment event that used to travel to communities throughout the prairies and orginated in Alberta.  With that theme in mind we will be providing educational activities, displays and workshops along with entertainment on our main stage throughout the day. Or join us in the lobby of City Hall for an opportunity to walk the labyrinth and listen to our harpists perform.

Clowns, balloons, bands, music and fun for all ages.  Join us for a fun filled day as we celebrate our heritage and catch the vision of our emerging spirit – a spirit that will take us another 85 years!

We are feeling the energy - catching the vision here in Edmonton and Alberta.  We know that there are many experiencing much loss in their communities, but we also celebrate the hopeful signs around us.  Join The United Church of Canada in celebrating 85 years - there are many ways to participate!
