Transit concerns about quality of life

I don’t generally go to public meetings or protests. I’ve usually steered away, having other things I choose or have to do.

But I made a point of attending the meeting in front of the bus terminal in Owen Sound last Monday. I’m glad I went.

I was convinced to go by the words of a few wise members of my congregation. People who are well into their mature years and steeped in wisdom of life.

All together?

I must say I am relieved to see the end of September.

It was a sad and bloody month.

The month began with the 12th Anniversary of the Sep11th attacks in US. On the same day, a Florida pastor was arrested

before he could set on fire several thousand copies of the Qu’ran.

The month really went off the rails when

a pair of suicide bombers in Pakistan killed close to 80 Christians

as they were leaving their Anglican Church after the Sunday service.

Does God Hate Our Sacraments? - October 6 2013 sermon

(We were live streamed this morning by Niagara Online Worship, and a link to a video of the sermon is underneath. Remember that the sermon written is never exactly the same as the sermon preached.)

The Early Morning Contemplation - A Poem

A poem I felt inspired to write in the early hours of this morning:

Sermon for Sept 29 2013

What will it take?

What will it take for us to take the message of Jesus Christ to heart?

Even in Jesus’ day people wondered what will it take

for people to take the message of God to heart.

Even though they had a thousand years of tradition,

the people were not always living up to who they should be in God.

People who thought they were good

were walking past those who were in need.

Jesus felt they needed to change. Jesus believed they could change.

Stop judging people and start helping them

Many years ago, a friend of mine underwent chemotherapy. She found it a difficult experience, as many do, but what was most difficult for her was something she called “the stupids.”

One of the side effects of the chemo was that for nearly a year after, she could not think quickly or critically. It was almost as if something in her brain was blocking the processing of information.

She was frustrated, because as a creative and intelligent person, “the stupids” got in her way.
