What should we do as the global Body of Christ when Scripture obstructs social justice? Equal rights for LGBT individuals and their heterosexual counterparts is socially just, so why is it not biblical?
How does the UCC reconcile its acceptance of gays & lesbians with the Bible's condemnation of homosexuality and the homosexual lifestyle?
The Bush Administration, when faced with the prospect risk of undesirable/incriminating information being exposed in declassified documents, would redact or selectively edit them. Black bars would appear on these documents to cover a name, a date, a place. This was done to render the material "inoffensive" to the folks in Washington. The Bible as we know it is a product of untold redactions, edits, and transliterations. Most of which were done for political reasons, to appease certain social or political entities.
Should the UCC redact the Bible once again to purge it of all anti-gay and homophobic language?
Should the UCC simply ignore language?
What other ways can members of the "gay church" address this problem? As it is, the Bible is unequivocally anti-homosexual.

"The Bible as we know it is a product of untold redactions, edits, and transliterations. Most of which were done for political reasons, to appease certain social or political entities."
Are you positive that all of those "redactions, edits, and transliterations" themselves didn't tend towards an "anti-homosexual" bias? How are you confident you know the difference between what is "real" and "original", and what is edited for political benefit or the social appropriateness of the time?

It is what it is.
Our notions of "social justice" have changed a lot in 2,000 years, evidently. When the cult of political correctness demands that the Bible should be rewritten once again, it will become even further removed from its original form. Political correctness will destroy the Bible and Christianity unless someone takes a stand against it. This far and no farther.
I am prepared to take such a stand.

We are not what was intended. Modern Christianity is not what was intended. After 2,000 years of greed, vanity, power-mongering, political infighting and wholesale slaughter, the modern church is most assuredly not what the Shepherd came to establish. To say that mankind has contaminated the original message would be a gross understatement. The Word of God has been spat on, cursed, denounced, smeared with filth, and generally disdained. In fact, I'm tempted to replace the word "Christianty" with "Churchianity." How many Churchians would use the Holy Name to their own selfish ends? How many Churchians would call other Churchians by the name of heretic, blasphemer?
