Have you ever been hungry?
No, not the craving for
chocolate or chips
But the stomach roiling,
noisy gut emptiness that comes
from hours and days
without food
your stomach full
of pain
your body shivering, cold
and then alone, you are left with
dull ache, cloudy mind, desolate heart
because a small number have it all
and there are no leftovers for the rest
Have you ever craved justice?
so that each has not
more and more
but just enough
so all are fed
in body
in spirit
in love.

Yes, I have, but that was intentional fasting, with my mind becoming clearer and my heart becoming fuller.
Perhaps those of us who crave a clear mind and full heart should do some fasting and meditating, and give the food we save to those who are really starving. Then both would be helped.

This is really beautiful :]
It's such a shame that most people do not take the time to think of others and how much are suffering

Wow! I think that's visceral and elegant. Thanks for posting it. The idea that hunger is a condition of both the body and soul .....
