About the Service

Our Worship Service is best described as blend of traditional and contemporary styles. The blended worship is designed to serve a diverse congregation.

About the Neighbourhood

Balzac, Alberta is a hamlet in a rural community that is located 5km north of the city limits of Calgary (population 1 million) and 5km south of the city of Airdrie (population 32,00).  Balzac is a quiet setting located between the prairies and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  Development in the area is proceeding at a fast pace, and because of development - residential. Commercial and industrial – Balzac is soon to become a village.   Situated between two growing cities and complemented by significant acreage development, the one mostly rural congregation now has a blend ranging from rural to urban professional.  Members and adherents of our church come from a 50km radius.

Balzac United Church

Church Minister

Rita Cattell

Rev Rita Cattell believes that when we are connected to God and connected to a church life works better all around. Her sermons and newspaper columns are positive messages with practical information about how the Bible and the Christian faith that addresses the blessings and burdens of everyday living and the relationships we share with family and friends. She enjoys leading small groups that explore the bible or discuss a book. For her, Balzac United Church is a great example of a small church experience that welcomes everyone who comes through its doors. She is enthusiastic about the many projects that Balzac supports including tree plantings, the food bank, and highway clean up.
