We are an inclusive and welcoming family trying to live our mission...

"Lives and communities transformed by the love of Christ working among us!"

About the Service

yes Sunday mornings we have a blended service beginning at 10:30 am.  Youngsters spend time with the Oldsters and also in their own Kids Zone all working together on the same theme each week.

smiley 5 Alive is a joyful family time that happens at 5 pm on the last Sunday of each month.

heart We also offer a Contemplative worship gathering from September thru May on the 2nd and 4th Thursday at 9:30 am.

yes The Korean United Church meets in our building and at least once a month joins in our worship and fellowship time.

About the Neighbourhood

We are situated in SW Calgary in the community of Elboya!

Find us just 1 block East of Elbow Drive and Brittania Plaza and very close to Chinook Centre.  Park in the rear or on the street and our entrance is on 49th Avenue facing Elboya School playgrounds.  We are wheelchair accessible and have an elevator to the lower floor.

Quick Facts

Who do I contact with questions?

Talk to anyone if you stop by - our office is open Monday to Friday featuring Suzanne - the all-knowing hub whereby we all connect... or check our website at www.livingspirit.ca or email us at office@livingspirit.ca, or call 403-243-3180

What's heavenly about your church?

music, stained glass, a place find your spiritual center - and there is always room for one, two, three or more more! We offer a variety of worships styles blended to (not quite) perfection. You must come listen to our Spirit Chorus and Spirit Sound!

How do people dress for service?

People wear what they are comfortable in. For some, its jeans and for others a suit. Children have arrived in comfy pyjamas. Not so many adults. We're a come as you are kind of place.

What happens after the service?

coffee, juice, water, tea, conversations, kids run around, people meet, sometimes there is food!

Are there any groups I can join to connect with others?

We have many groups including Bridge, Crafts, Quilters, Book and Life Studies, as well as our lunches and potlucks, committees, and outreach groups. Just send us a message with what you need and we will have someone find a way to serve you.

Living Spirit United Church

Church Minister

Rev. Jennifer Ferguson and her spouse Traci Hubbard

Jennifer Ferguson, an ordained minister, was called to Living Spirit to team up with Traci Hubbard, our Children, Youth, Young Adult and Family Minister.

Jennifer and Traci are a same gender couple and by calling them as spiritual leaders of our community, we are stating our belief in Christ’s message that all people and all family constellations are welcome and everyone belongs to the family of God.

Traci and Jennifer have been married for 3 years; have 5 children spanning 13 -26 years, in-laws in Calgary, Texas and Ontario and they welcomed a first grandchild into the adventure of being a blended family.

Jennifer and Traci each bring 20 years of diverse ministry experience with a range of theological perspectives and backgrounds from conservative to progressive Christianity; to contemporary spirituality to an enthusiasm for interfaith dialogue.

Together with the people of Living Spirit, their passion is to create an open, intergenerational, faith-filled, fun community that welcomes and accepts all people regardless of their faith background, provides many opportunities for questions, doubts and spiritual learning, and discovers ways to contribute and make a relevant difference in our wider community.

Get Ready For Charlie Brown

Gen Hope Players will be mounting a production of “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown” on September 23 and 24.  The production will be directed by Jody Low, with musical direction by Nancy Jackson.  We are very excited to have a cast consisting of some of our local talent; Heather Low as Lucy and Gillian Davies as Snoopy; as well as many talented individuals from the greater community.

We've attracted youth who have worked with Front Row Centre and Alberta Theatre Projects as well as a Stampede Youth Talent Show finalist.  We're also thrilled to welcome Heather Smuda to the creative team as Assistant Director.

At this writing, we're still rounding up department heads.  If you're interested in volunteering in any capacity, please let Jody or Nancy know and we will point you in the right direction.  The show starts at 7 pm and tickets sell for 20$ apiece.  There are only 100 tickets for each performance!  Watch for announcements about ticket availability.
