About the Service

Imagine

  • a spiritual place filled with accepting, fun-loving and diverse people
  • an inspirational place with out-of-the-ordinary services and great music
  • a progressive church that is open to change and encourages questions
  • an inclusive community that values all ages
  • a place that translates personal Christian faith into positive action in our community and throughout the world

That's what Spirit West United is like!

Church Minister

Rev. Larry Wright

Rev. Larry was ordained as a minister in 1981 in Owen Sound, Ontario. He moved to Saskatchewan to begin his ministry in the Prairie Neighbours Pastoral Charge (later renamed Marengo) where he stayed for 6 years.  In 1987 he left Alsask to join the Canadian Forces as a chaplain. Larry and his growing family moved many times to different bases in Canada. Then in 2001 he moved to Edmonton to be unit chaplain for the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's LIght Infantry. At that time he moved with his unit to many locations including Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Larry brings a wealth of knowledge about our church in the world, as well as a desire to promote peace in it. He is friendly, interesting to listen to, and very much reflects our church's values about creating a safe and welcoming space for people to worship and mingle.

Come and give him a listen on Sunday morning. You won't be disappointed!
