One Person's Statement of Faith as at Sep. 29 2009

I believe in an eternal mysterious living presence that permeates the universe and our lives, whether or not we acknowledge such – I believe this is an aspect of what we try to collectively name as God. I believe we are an [equally] important part of God's universe. God has ordained us [humans] with choice. I believe God cares but does not particularly show favour in the physical realm. Yet I believe we are endowed with purpose-seeing. E.g., “It seems we were meant to...” I am called to be a follower of the way of Jesus. I interpret this through my life experience, my cultural setting, and means and resources available to me, sometimes best attributable to what we call the Holy Spirit. I am given to know the Way through mainly the inborn and acquaintance-made Holy Spirit and the Bible through the many who have contributed to me their experiences, their learnings and themselves, to which I have heard and responded. We are here to persist and contribute to realizing the way in which God would have the world operate, even though there exists persistent evil. The Way requires that I intentionally foster my allegiance to my understanding of Jesus, foster my spiritual nuturing, and that I act politically to respond to God's calling for my particular mission. I choose to align my particular mission with the corporate mission of those I bond with in the body of Christ. E.g., currently in flux, this could be feed the hungry, be a peacemaker, or some other social justice calling that God is crying out for help with. Right now it is teaching. I believe my principal gifts are a sense of playfulness and teaching / mentoring. I believe in healthy conflict and debate as an aspect of learning to be the best we can be in God's Kingdom. People will know who I am from by my exhibiting compassion. Respect is a significant aspect of compassion. So is listening.
