HI everyone - I haven't posted in a long time. I am now down 42 pounds with a final very stubborn 8 pounds to go. I no longer think of myself as a fat person trying to get slim. Nw I feel like a slim (or almost slim!) person staying on a healthy journey. If I eat junk (and I do) I don't feel great - now the healthy food is what I prefer. And of course the endless exercise which I have come to love!!
My advice to anyone trying to lose a lot of weight? Have patience and keep at it. if you mess up, get right back on the healthy train the next day!

30lbs in 4 months is a wonderful accomplishment, you must be very proud of yourself! Great job!! What did you change that made the biggest difference for you?
30 pounds in 4 months is amazing! That's just incredible ~ good for you!
That's fabulous pog! I'm so pleased for you. You must be proud. Enjoy your success, and then tackle that last 20 pounds. You can do it!
Hi everyone - Just wanted to give you an update on where I'm at on my healthy journey. As of today, I am down 30 pounds!! I started at the end of January so that's 30 pounds in 4 months. Slow and controlled, and at times frustrating, but nonetheless a journey that is working so far. I feel great, look so much better, have so much more energy and I have been getting to know this slimmer, healthier person that is the new me. I have probably another 20 pounds to go to be where I want to be. And I'm down about 3 sizes!!
Will keep you posted.....

Great job, Pog! Welcome to our group and let us know about all your successes and failures (yeah - we like to know that it is not just us!)
HI everyone - I didn't know this group was here - I've been on my healthy journey since the beginning of January. After gaining a lot of weight in the past few years, I wanted to recommit to myself and really take care of me - I've spent so much time taking care of everyone else in my life (husband, friends dealing with divorce & breast cancer, children, ailing parents etc) that I neglected myself.
I've hired a dietician, I'm eating really healthy, I'm working out 4-5 times a week at my gym and feel terrifice! I've also lost about 15 pounds already! I've had to have all my pants altered because I was swimming in them! I have along way to go but I'm totally motivated and inspired by all your stories.

Why don't we start a thread on this topic, Namaste...cms
Thanks for your encouragement Maye and Cjms. I had a better day today. Lunch was tuna and avocado and rye crackers with salad. (I use the avocado to mash up with the tuna instead of using mayo). Dinner was honey mustard chicken, rice, asparagus and asian style hot and sour coleslaw. I've been eating so much lately though I'm feeling starving today even after eating more than enough. I think I can get back on track.
The challenge will be later this week. I'll be looking after my friend's kids for four days. They are 3 and 8 and rather picky eaters. I'm thinking that I may have to prepare two meals - one that is stuff they will eat and one that is healthy stuff for me. Unless any of you have some suggestions. Any suggestions for healthy food that kids will actually eat?
Don't sweat it, Namaste. Dealing with the emotions that you have been struggling with is not easy. I think that you hit on a key point, though. As you were writing your food choices down, it became more obvious what you need to do. Keep a journal. Use thedailyplate.com. It's an excellent resource. Chin up....cms
Namaste,
we all have a step backward occasionally. In stressful times, we can revert to our old ways of eating. Plus, it was right there!
Give yourself a mental hug, dust yourself off, and start anew tomorrow. Put yesterday and today's food choices behind you. Give yourself a pat on the back for being supportive to your friend in need.
Where is everyone? It's gotten awfully quiet around here.
I'm having a really hard time. I think I've fallen off the wagon again. This weekend has not been good at all. My friend's son's funeral was yesterday and I've found that very stressful. It's not excuse for my poor food choices though. It seems once I make one poor choice, I just continue to do so. Yesterday, I ate what was there at the funeral and later at my friend's house - buns and cheese, brownies, and bowl of ice cream and a couple glasses of wine. Today I had breakfast with a friend and then lunch was ice cream cake and a can of Dr. Pepper. The only remotely healthy thing I've eaten this weekend was raw veggies from the veggie tray yesterday. Writing this down, I'm just shaking my head. What am I doing?!
Greetings!
Hey, MM, those sound like great goals to me . . . hope I can be an encouragement and support as you persever to achieve them. I hope you achieve the level of healthiness you are seeking. I think a healthy diet, exercise, proper rest, etc. can make some differences in a persons mood - hopefully it will be a help to you.
Hope, peace, joy, love . . .
Welcome MM! Of course it's all right that you joined. I hope you find encouragement & help here.

I have asked admin. how I can make the threads read only by members as it appears that is what most members would like, and they have not replied so I am going to switch the group to' moderated - request membership' and see if that works.
Hi everyone. Namaste invited me to join your group. I hope that's okay. I'd like to lose about 20 pounds. In the last few months I've really let things slide and need to get back into a healthy eating and exercize routine. I'm hoping that eating better might help my mood too.
Greetings!
Sounds like we are a busty group (for myself 38DD). I hear ya about the breast reduction, Seeler. I continue to hope I will lose some weight on my bust. ThenI can be like cjms "tube socks with wrinkles"! If I had lots of money and was willing to have surgery, I'd seriously consider it! It was nice to be busty when I was younger, but not now!!
Hey Maye, I find I always feel hungry too, yet I know I am eating enough (actually way too much) to be hungry. But I always feel like I want "something else". I also lost 4 lbs. in January with a goal to maintain that weight loss also.
I agree cjms, for me to not snack on chips I have to not have them in the house. Willpower just isn't going to cut it for me. So I don't buy it and then I can't eat it. I have been eating a lot of veggies and fruits.
Hope everybody had a fairly healthy weekend!
Hope, peace, joy, love . . .
Hi Maye. Great start! It is actually quite beneficial to eat smaller meals an snacks more frequently. Don't buy chips and you won't eat them. Get some healthy snacks and do you best to stick to the serving size. Better yet, get some veggies like carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower, peppers, etc to munch on. Keep at it!...cms
Sounds like everyone has had a good start!
I lost 4 pounds in January. My plan is to keep that off, then lose 4 more. 4 pounds a month ~ that has to be realistic, right?
My weakness is snacking in the evening. I just can't seem to make it to bedtime without eating something (usually chips). I get soooo hungry if I don't eat something every 2-3 hours.
I also want to lose some in the breast area. There are so many styles that I just can't wear!
I'm hopeing to drop from a 36D to a 36C but for some reason I don't see it happening. Maybe when I get toned up a bit the weight will shift - muscle will build and fat (boobs, stomach) will shrink. I can hope.
If I were 30 years younger I would be considering breast reduction surgery. Once we are past nursing, why should be carry around all the extra weight out front with bras digging into our shoulders and backaches, as well as so many styles of clothes not suiting us?
LOL, Cjms. Thanks for the lovely mental cinema! I'm a 38 DD right now, but those bras are getting a little big on me. Right now, I'm kinda between sizes, so I won't mind if I keep losing some, but I don't wanna lose too much.
LOL! - I know about the breast reduction plan! I went from a size 42-D to barely a 36-B. I look like tube socks with tons of wrinkles!!! Not a pretty site. Thank goodness for nice bras.
My mother (who has the need to constantly drill me about my weight) made a comment about an outfit that I told her I bought last spring. I told her that it was a size 12 and I was very pleased. Her response was "You can't wear a size 12 - you're too busty!" Not anymore!!! And this summer I'll have to have that dress taken in (I spent more than $200 on it and only wore it about 4 times)...cms
Oh, it's not that I mind losing it from my boobs (infact, it really wouldn't be a bad thing), I'd just rather lose it from elsewhere first!
Beloved, like you, I'm trying to get to 10 pounds. That's my first goal. Then the trick will be keeping that off. I don't want to lose too quickly or I'm worried I'll gain it all back!
Greetings!
In the month of January I have lost 4 pounds. My first goal is to maintain that weight loss, and then continue losing. I am going for the first 10 pounds, then will set a new goal after that.
I feel that in the last month I've made very good food choices (except for one day when I kind of hit the dust and ate a few things I shouldn't have). My quantities are still high. I am still drinking Diet Coke (I need to drink more water).
When I was younger, Namaste, and would lose weight, it generally came of my bust first too. But it seems to me the last several years, not that I've lost that much weight, it now seems to come off from my middle. I've never lost enough to see if it will come off my bust. The difference for me is that that is where I would like to lose some!!!!
Way to go Seeler, on your weight loss in January - that is absolutely fantastic!
Now is the time that I need to do the work of perseverance, and not quit, or give in. Some say that it takes a few weeks to create good habits - hopefully I have created some good eating habits that I will stick with. Encouragement to all fellow WGMers on our road to healthy living!
Hope, peace, joy, love . . .
Hi Seeler and everyone else-
I think a weekly check-in would be a great idea. I don't know how much I've lost this week (if any), but I am down 7 pounds since starting (less than 4 weeks ago). I haven't noticed a big difference in how my clothes are fitting except for my bras! Why is it that the weight always comes off from the place where you least need to lose it? Or maybe it's just me?
I haven't been doing so well the past few days. I'm tired, stressed and in need of some comfort foods.
How about a once a week check in? Just few lines to say how you are doing.
Like: Monday is the day I have an appointment with my coach, get weighed, etc. This week I'm down 1.4 pounds. He is happy - I was hopeing it would be closer to two pounds to make up for the slight gain last week.
So far in four weeks I've lost about 8 pounds and I'm about 5 pounds above my goal - actually I'd like to lose another 10 so I'd have some wiggle room. Also I have to work on toning up after my illness.
How about the rest of you? Pounds coming off? Noticing a difference in how your clothes fit? Toning up?
