We Thought We Could, we thought we could, we thought....

How many of you have heard of Lumby, British Columbia. Few, I am sure. We are a small village of about 1800 people on highway 6, just south of Vernon in the North Okanagan. Close you Cherryville? Whitevale? Does that help?

EMERGE OR DIE !!

Our United Church moderator, David Guiliano, has said that we as a church must "emerge" (radically change) or die. In a recent Observer article (My View,Feb.2009, p.9), Paul Smith says that this further will require a transformation so extensive that we likely won't recognize ourselves. Mr. Smith talks about two approaches, a) the incremental way, a little at a time (very risky) in our existing congregations and b) the revolutionary mode practiced in newly planted "progressive" congregations.
