The Spirit in the World. Text: Genesis 1:1-2:3 Matthew 28:16-20. Trinity Sunday, June 19 2011
Preached by Rev. James Murray at Dominion-Chalmers United Church
On the way home from church, a young boy was asked what they learned in Sunday School. He told his parents that they learned what the bible meant. The parents were a little perplexed. So they asked him ‘what does the Bible mean?’ He joyfully said “B.I.B.L.E. means Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.”
Practicing Pentecost. Text: Acts 2:1-23
Preached by Rev. James Murray at Dominion-Chalmers United Church. Pentecost Sunday, June 12 2011
“After Jesus”. Text: Acts 1:6-11 Ascension Sunday, June 5 2011
Preached by Rev. James Murray at Dominion-Chalmers United Church.
A famous preacher once said that the only time he had ever preached on the ascension of Jesus was when he dedicated a new elevator in his church. The image of Jesus ascending into heaven is one of the least understood parts of the gospel. You are not alone if you are not certain what to make of it.
“Greater deeds than these” Text – John 14: 8-14
Preached by Rev. James Murray at Dominion-Chalmers United Church, May 22 2011
Over the years, I have heard countless times people say that they wished someone could come back from the dead to tell us what heaven is like and what is the meaning of everything. It is a natural desire to have some confirmation of our deepest desires and beliefs. For me, the confirmation of those desires and beliefs is found in the resurrection appearances of Jesus in the Gospel of John.
One of the ministries of Dominion-Chalmers is the New Horizons Band program. They were our musical guests on Sunday. The first video features the band. The second is Rev. Murray in conversation with band members, and the third is their grand finale.
Enjoy!
