I'm thinking about the time & energy that sometimes goes into supposedly simple stuff like tracking/managing registrations for presbytery events or meetings, then collecting fees etc. Wondering if anyone is using any software or services for this function e.g. eventbrite - perhaps there are others? It seems to me that we must be able to make better use of technology for stuff like this!
Personally, I think it'd be great to get the meeting notice, click a button to RSVP (and have it go automatically to your calendar) & just pay online while you're at it. Done. Finished. No more need for my attention.

carolla, what do you mean about "fees"?

There are simple things. Survey Monkey will do it quite readily.
I am astounded by the waste at conference and presbytery and church offices due to lack of usage of even standard software available. The waste includes volunteers time in registering, not just tracking

Now, to be fair, unless you know of something, why would you even consider replacing.

Eventbrite looks interesting, Carolla.
When you consider you are bypassing all the collection costs and revenue charges you would have anyway for doing credit card receipts, it seems like a reasonable charge.
i could see somethign like a retreat centre using it. One can use PayPal to purchase, register, get reminders, get max fill, secure transactions, and reduce operational costs of the event.
Sure, you lose a %, but, the customer has a fast, immediate confirmation, with relatively low overhead costs and you get good reporting.

We use eventbrite for most everhthing we do at Welcome Friend Associaiton. Even if the event is free - you get names, can make name badges, get stats, all sorts of great things.

Nice.
I just used doodler for proposing dates and times to gather with friends for dinner. Each work in different locations and well, so far everyone has liked it.
I found about about it by posting here and on facebook

we register through survey monkey but fees are collected onsite for conference and presbytery.

carolla, what do you mean about "fees"?
My presbytery charges $10 for dinner meetings; or small registration fee for Networking Day - not lots of money, but time consuming to collect & account for all of it. Many folks don't even carry much cash these days - a friend got caught out at a recent event - embarassing for her.
(aside - glad you like my new spring avatar - I thought (hopefully & optimistically) it was time to retire the snowflake!)

Didn't know registrations could be done through Survey Monkey. I've only used it for surveys, and not a while either.
Doodler ... haven't heard of that pinga - will take a look.
Thanks Jobam - good to hear eventbrite has been useful for you - I rather like the sound of it & know some churches use it for larger community events. I got a service club invitation today to a fashion show - tix via eventbrite :-)
I like with eventbrite that you only pay for the times it is used - not necessary to estimate your ticket sales & prepay on that basis. Good to be able to simply print lists, name tags, etc. Seems like a good thing to me. Now, how to move it forward to those who might actually make use of it!

Doodle (not doodler - my error) is good for just getting a handful of folks together for a meeting or dinner and presenting options.
Survey monkey is a usable tool, but, i like the idea that the event software is free for free events. Note: I have not looked to see what you give up with "free"

Okay - Doodle - might it be a good thing for committees trying organize meetings? Currently this can involve mere dozens of e-mails!!

absolutely, Carolla.
You as the chair propose dates and times.
It is also timezone aware.
Quite good.
