Subject: Visitation and Memorial Service for Gary Redcliffe
Dear friends,
The Emmanuel College community is greatly saddened by the sudden death of Gary Redcliffe yesterday, November 12, from a brain aneurism. Gary was Emmanuel's professor of Pastoral Theology from 1986 until his retirement in 2007, and during that time also served for many years as Director of Basic Degree Studies. He was a dedicated and devoted friend, colleague, teacher, and pastor.
Visitation was held on Sunday November 14. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2:00 pm at Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth Avenue, 416.463.2179.
Principal Mark Toulouse is in Asia on college business and sends condolences to Gary's family, friends, and colleagues.

Gary taught many of us in the United Church ministry. He was my Faculty Advisor in my MPS days. He was always insightful, supportive and encouraging. He used his sabbatical time and retirement to do interim ministry in troubled congregations and supply work in complex congregations who were in the search process. He will be deeply and profoundly missed.

There is a somewhat distant family connection within my own congregation. In fact, unknown to me until just a couple of days ago Gary was called as an extra reference for me a few years ago when I applied here. Gary was a very encouraging individual. I always enjoyed Gary as a professor. He will definitely be missed by those who knew him.
