PAR

I think PAR is the greatest idea.  It says that I am prepared to give X amount of money every month.  It becomes a line in your monthly budget and your offering is not an afterthought depending on what's left.  It makes life easier for the treasurer and the Council knowing that this is an amount they know will be here each month.

I do not understand why some people are so afraid of it.  I have heard comments such as, "The usher will think I'm not giving any money."  You might be surprised at how little the ushers care.  They soon learn who to bypass when doing the collection.

If at the end of some month you have more money left than usual, the church is always glad to accept it.

I registered for PAR about a year ago with the absolute minimum that I could afford.  Now, I can add to the plate however much feels appropriate on Sunday mornings without worrying that I have not done my part.

As a congregant who signed up for PAR a few years ago, and as a Sunday Envelope counter and Donations recorder, I love PAR!!

There used to be little cards you could print (about 1 x 3) that those who are on PAR could get and put in the collection plate if they wanted to instead of an envelope.  The cards collected each Sunday were re-used as they were passed out to people who wanted to use them.

PAR is awesome...saves so much time and my church knows exactly how much money I'm giving to help with budging.

I love PAR - and so doues our Resource Management Group who looks after our budget.

We have some little laminated cards that are left at the back of the church - some people like to pick them up so they can put something in the collection plate when it comes by; personally I don't find it necessary to do so.
