:) Thanks GordW.
ps: Are you suggesting the General Council Office should spend M&S monies on tee shirts to give ministry personnel and lay leaders as a reward for doing stuff they demand to be able to do, but do not always actually do, for when they do actually do it?

If there's free tee shirts available I'll take one. I'm always up for a free tee shirt.

Wow! this is almost (almost) a groundswell of support for a church policy geek recognition t-shirt! My colleague Wendy will be delighted!!
Wendy has the best 'church geek' t-shirts: my favourite features stick figures 'interpreting liturgy through interpretive dance'. :D
Let's just see if y'all can get this (t-shirt initiative) to GC, and then it will be so ;)
I think that to qualify, however, you'll need to be a United Church member.

You realize that to qualify as a "church geek" you have to have a spiral-bound current Manual. And a collection of old Manuals. And yes, if such a t shirt were available, I'd like one.

I'm actually surprised you don't have a collection already, David.

There is an unspoken "pecking order" in t-shirts in the United Church. It used to be an unwritten tradition that the General Council t-shirt was a badge of honour and service distinction. Those who has t-shirts from the 1986, 1988 and 1990 General Councils were especially respected, because they had been through the sexuality debates that tore us apart. The 1990 GC t-shirts came in blue and pink, too. GC t-shirts were always worn the first evening of General Council, to make distinct the "old hands" from the "newbies". No idea of that pecking order still happens, but it was still seen at Thunder Bay in 2006
You were also considered "cool" or "closer to the promised Land" depending on the coolness of your t-shirt. If it was from a WCC event or a third world country or a social justice organization and you were wearing it as an act of solidarity, then you were cool. No t-shirt? Not cool.
Me? The coolest t-shirt I have is a Habitat for Humanity Global Villages t-shirt, which I got for working in Sri Lanka building Habitat homes. The shirt is cool, but it's the sweat stains that make it really cool.
