Rick Mercer has done so much to get Canadians to notice themselves. Do you think we could get the Rick Mercer Report to do a segment on the United Church? If so, what would he do? He seems to love doing zany, creative things. For example, the Johnson's cranberry bog is what you'd expect: flooded fields of cranberries. What did he do? He kneeboarded through the bog, pulled by a tractor. It was priceless!

Maybe he could do a cross country tour of UCC pot-luck dinners!

Perhaps an expose on how Welch's Grape Juice company is bribing church officials with stock options to keep communion wine out of UCC congregations?

Hi BillK,
Mercer would have been great as an observer to the General Council.
We'd probably have to hide him while Council was sitting otherwise he'd be too much of a distraction.
Yes, we could debate for 45 minutes how not to hurt the feelings of the author of this lame proposal or, we could hang out with Rick and have a good time.
No choice really.
Hurt the feelings of the author and hang out with Rick in the balance of the time remaining.
He would have been great to have in the Pub after business closed for the day though I think that he probably would have been more at home with the Commissioners from NL Conference.
I got to hang with them for several hours since they knows me and misses me on the rock.
Grace and peace to you.

Apparently he came to a place JUST around the corner from where I live. It is an apiary called Bee World, which also offers educational tours and you can buy honey and other bee products from their store. Neat place. The owner/operator is a master bee keeper. He said Mr. Mercer even did the bee beard thing! I wish I had known about it, as I would have loved to have seen that.
I think I would do a bee beard. Maybe. I am not scared of honeybees. My only concern is that I am quite ticklish.

I love Rick! I'm sure he can do anything as long as it involves Canada ^.^
Don't you just love watching his little rants on this and that? Oh, and how about that Cold-FX Drip commercial? LOL
"With Cold-FX Drip, I can get on with my life --" falls abruptly to the floor as the wheels get stuck before that door.
Now available in Blueberry.

This isn't without precident. Don Harron did a lot of work as Charlie Farquarson for the United Church in the 1990's. he is also a member of the United Church.
