I'm started a new post as the old was a bit more cluttered. I'll add things as I remember/they come up.
Currently there is someone who is willing to help this person out, but not organize the entire thing
I've mentioned before that having materials that other people could use would be beneficial. Ie. Sample tweets, graphics to share on fb etc. Someone to write up a letter contact churches/organize people contacting churches or other groups. These are just ideas I have, hopefully more will come from this volunteer!
If you're great at figuring out how to post videos, pictures, etc. and can explain it well to others, this would be a great position for you!

Oops, when I said ideas I had, it hasn't been just me! It's been from previous discussions here.

If you've known people who were here in the past, or who might be interested, let them know where we are!
By starting some interesting topics at the new site!

Thanks for getting this going again, chemgal. We appreciate it and will be watching and contributing as it develops. I've posted a link over on the admin forum on the WC2 development site where we do a lot of our internal discussions so that Pinga and chansen know you've started (re-started, I guess) this thread.

Could we start a list of people who have been here before and are on our wonder mail.Could we ask posters to take 5 or 10 and send them a pre written message that we all have.I have been thinking about this and would be willing to send each of our active posters the 10 names and the message we want conveyed inviting them to the new site. This message could also go on the United Church Group when the site is up and running.
Does this make sense.

What dates did you have in mind...how many years back to invite people? Do you think 2006 is too long ago? Do you think if we pm them on wondermail that the message is sent to their personal emails like on Facebook? If not they won't see it at all unless they happen to be here on WC? I never requested to be notified in my personal email about my wondermail messages so I don't know?
I am available.....no problem...to contact lots of our posters who have come and gone over the years. To pm 10 persons per volunteer is too little I think. Its just a copy paste job more or less.

I think you had to ask it to be sent to your email. I quit because I was getting so much traffic, I couldn,t keep up. What does anyone think? Remember Realmseer, for example.

Sounds like a good plan CH! Are you willing to put together the list?

Crazyheart, I think it is a good idea. I think that some methods will encounter some folks, and other methods will hit other folks.
It would be good for one person to have a master list of people to be contacted, and if they have replied.
It would be good to have a standard message going out.
I also sense that some folks have folks on facebook, or other connectionsto.
(i would recommend that we have a gentle start), that we get the folks registered from here first, and then, have a bigger golive, ie wide invite)
I also think that we should plan to have a re-release party at christmas, when our volume posting is generally high

But Pinga, the only time we can contact these folk by wondermail is while WC is still active. Otherwise after that there is no wondermail.

I don't think we should invent the wheel where there are hundreds dare I say thousands of user names on WC.
Could the mods answer this. Would the UC give us a list of user names so we could send a message. We only have a couple of weeks to use WondeMail.
We don.t need anything but the user name.
Pinga
Posted on: 05/19/2014 20:37
Crazyheart, I can ask.

Crazyheart
The user names are all on the members list at the top on the left of the page here. Click on a member and you have their profile and you can wonder mail them.
Perhaps you mean personal email addresses? We don't have those. They are private, I doubt that the UC can release them to us.
We also have the members user names from the archives . I posted a page from 2006 above. Click "last" re page numbers on any forum, the pages start back in 2006 and run to the present dates. You can pick and choose the year, dates, and persons to wondermail from any of the forums on the WC.
Perhaps I'm not understanding you?

CH...Edit
The members list is full of spam but its no problem to skip over them. Keep going to the legit members.

stardust, going through 470 pages of members in some obscure sort order, wouldnt' be conducive to good volunteer management.
Crazyheart, i think what you want is some sense of "valid" members, ie those who created an account, maybe posted a few times and weren't banned as spam account.
let's see what we can do for you.

Just a little note to thank ChemGal, Alex and CrazyHeart for agreeing to be some of early testers.
Really appreciate your help. Look forward to your impressions of the new site.
In addition, we appreciate the nominated moderators testing the moderation functionality in the new site. Appreciate all the help.

Pinga, I've been having fun on the new site. I've said it elsewhere, but I'll put it here too. I really like it! So far, functionally it seems like a big improvement.
Are there any updates regarding the list of WC members?

We're just opening it to a couple of testers, CH. Chemgal is doing some great work posting tips as she finds them. Alex is weighing in on some of the features. It'll be open to all soon enough.

no, no, it was my fault.
I got caught up in the drama on wondercafe and neglec ted to catch that it was time to bring crazyheart on line.
My fault totally. ChemGal is doing a great job of getting tips and tricks ready for folks and learning the new site. We are really looking at a train-the-trainer type of model to help folks, whilst we finish the building, so CrazyHeart is our tester.
Thanks Chansen for woring on it.

Unless someone really likes doing launch events, I do not believe that such an would attrack any new memebrs or bring back old ones. FOr one we are launching the site at the begining of summer, and there is a lot of competition for peoples attention.
I do believe that a publicity campaign in September of October would be a good use of people's time.
I also believe that if we are to generate any free publicity at the launch it would be partnering with the UCC when they (if we can get them to do so) send out an announcement to the press and eleswhere announcing the end of WC.
i also believ that we can use facebook and twitter to promote continously WC2, That would be similar to how WC promotes WC. HOwever I would add hastags so that non followers would see. FOr example our dicussion on the ontario election would include #voteon and #onpoli . Likewise for evry other discussion, we can tweet out a link with a descrition and a good hashtag.
