Walk with me

Has anyone ever sung this song at church/a church function?

You get in a circle and cross your arms and hold the people next to you's hands and sway back and forth as you sing (or at least this is how we do it at camp).

Walk with me, I will walk with you,

We'll build a land that God has planned, where love shines through.

And you repeat it as many times as necessary.  At camp we sing it at the end of each day after campfire, so to finish it we add "Day is done, gone the sun, from the lakes from the hills from the sky, all is well, safely rest, God is neigh."

If anyone else sings it (not) at night, is there a verse you sing to end it?

Omni, I really like this hymn and have sung it in my church many times.  (Hymn #649 in Voices United.)  I haven't sung it at night - or not that I specifically recall - but love the last verse in the VU version: "And when you share your faith with me and work for life made new, the witness of your faithfulness calls me to walk with you."

I love this song - it always reminds me of all the Jim and Jean Strathdee concerts that I have been to!

We have sung it in our church many times as our Benediction.  Love the words, and the sentiment.

I made up actions to this song with Children at Conference. It was wonderful and reverent I find it hard to sing it standing still.

IS MAskepetoon still doing that?  I was on Perm Staff when it was introduced as a way to try and avoid the chaotic run from campfire to the front lawn to sing Taps.---Camp 2 1989

Amazing how some things become sticking traditions....

ETA: And if they are singing it the same as we used to ist is a different arrangement than in VU.  In VU it is in 4/4 time and I learned it in 3/4 time--and still tend to want to sing and play it that way.

I do believe I will suggest it to our Minister.  Should freak half the congregation out.

I am totally time-deaf since quitting piano some years ago, so I'm not sure if they still sing it in 3/4 time.  If I could figure out this damn website i'd post a video of me singing it :P
