Canada needs a new PM. Maybe we could talk to Pilgrim about this arrange for for the Aussies to lend us theirs for a decade or two.

I'm not sure Canada would entirly approve of Julia - as she's against same sex marriage.......

But, on the other hand, our Finance Minister Penny Wong is both Asian and a lesbian - with a fantastic sense of humour, super-smart and super-cool,  - and, as she's from the left, I would love to see her as Prime Minister.

Not all world leaders (politicians, etc) are as anal-retentive as Canadian or American ones :3

Australians are of a different culture than Canadians, as my good friend Pilgrims Progress has found out.

Canada is willing to trade veteran PM Stephen Harper, journeyman MP Bob Rae and promising rookie MP Justin Trudeau straight up for Julia Gillard. We'll even pick up the balance owing to Harper to make the trade work under the salary cap.

Julia was fine as a trail blazer - Australia's first female Prime Minister.

But, in her cabinet, Penny Wong is definitely the brightest and the best.

She is one class act. When she went to school she was the only Asian in her class and copped a fair amount of bullying due to this. She is also a lesbian who lives with her partner and has a small daughter.

She chooses to wear neither as a banner, but quietly and intelligently works to improve the rights of all minorities in our country. (This as well as being a Finance Minister!)

She now has her own web site - and I'll try and imbed a video of her speaking in support of same sex marriage. (the motion was subsequently, lost and Oz still does not have same sex marriage.)

It's a bit long -but well worth watching to see how she calmly and logically states her case.

Why do believer her being a "lesbian who lives with her partner and has a small daughter" necessarily make her a "class act"?

If you want attention, perhaps you should just ask for it, rather than always acting out your need for it?

I'm just asking you to clarify a statement that you made. If you are unwilling to do so for whatever reason, that's okay.

Just posting to get attention seemed fun for a long while, but in the end it proved to be worthless.

Now I find myself increasingly interested in truly getting to know other people better. I believe a very Christlike thing we can do is to strive to understand others and their ways of thinking.

MC jae, why did you link "class act" to her being a lesbian? 

Pilgrim had those statements separated by other material.  I read the statement as implying Penny Wong is intelligent, wise in what she says and does, lives with integrity, has positive life-guiding values.  Whether or not she is a lesbian has nothing to do with her being a class act.  How she lives out being a lesbian does.

The following statement points to the interpretation I offer.  Again, why focus on what is most alienating to you while ignoring the rest of the post?

Good luck with trying to interpret the Bible.

Pilgrims included the facts about Ms. Wong's lesbianism in the paragraph she began by calling the politician in question a "class act." Therefore, it's only logical to believe that the statements are meant to be read together. If Pilgrims meant them to be separate thoughts, perhaps she could have made that clearer by breaking the paragraph apart. 

Yes, I did note the other descriptions that Pilgrims gave. It's easy for me to see that intelligence, integrity, and positive values contribute to making someone a "class act."

Now Jim, you say that "how she lives out being a lesbian does (help to make her a class act)." A question that seems to flow out of that comment is, just how do you believe a lesbian should live?

I would rather have your prayers. I'm not yet a Bible expert. I have taken some courses in text and hermeneutics, but I certainly have room to grow.

Jae, if she practices fidelity, shows love and respect to her partner and to others, avoids making being a lesbian an issue, these are living out being a lesbian in a classy way.  I wish more Christians would show the same kind of class in a willingness to show love and respect to others, no matter who they are.
