I don't know exactly how to do this, but I'll write it and see what happens.
I had one of those moments in my life, as I was going to sleep, that I have had a few times, that break my life up into 'Before' moments and 'After' moments. In the 'After', my world is different, because my assumptions have changed. It is still early days yet, so I will still keep my mind open to see what is what and what isn't what.
There's an urban legend that the writer of the Godfather got a letter from an actual mobster who told him that "Finally, someone writes aboot how the world really is..."
It seems that the way of the world is Power. Everything else is subservient to that. Even Jesus tried to fight Power...and lost. The Roman Catholic Church is a Power, though that has been changing. The world is made up of different tribes who all are trying to keep their Power. The occupation in Iraq? Power. Palestine & Israel? Power.
Powers will do anything to keep that--violence being a good short term goal. To keep power, those in power definitely don't want an empowered populace -- democracy is good, because it diffuses the power of the constituents, monarchy is even better. To keep that power over their populace, they will manipulate and coerce, use whatever is necessary (including myths) to keep their populace from getting too much power.
So it doesn't matter all this abstract "Right" and "Wrong", "Justice", whatever serves Power serves Power and there is no escape but into more Power.
It all makes sense, now. Even all these 'Prophets' and wise people and shamans and so forth...are just people trying to get Power. The 'atheist movement' is really aboot Power. Ecology movement. Feminist movement.
I wonder what a mind map of "Israel" & "Palestine" over the historical period would look like? Of the US & the former Soviet Union? Of Canada and pre-Canada? Taking a look at all of the causes and effects that have been occurring over the years and years and years...

There are many types of power conflicts:
between those grasping at power over others is the most obvious type, and this is the type you recognized;
Between those grasping at power over others and those who are working at decentralizing power;
between those grasping at power over others and those who are dedicated to using their power for others instead of over others;
between those grasping at power over others and those who are dedicated to using their power to promote some kind of truth -- sometimes this looks like the first kind of conflict (the difference for me is whether or not the second group is trying to exercise power over everyone or is trying to gain freedom for some to live by the truth they promote.
I hope distinguishing between power over and power for will help diffuse the cynicism or pessimism expressed in your post.

Jim Kenney,
thanks for the input, really :3
The thoughts expressed in my OP I don't normally have -- I'm more of a holistic, hippy non-status lovin' type 'o critter who is so afraid of dogmatism that I've taught myself how to try on other worldviews...I think that is what is going on with my OP...I'm still in the midst of experiencing it...
It seems to me that what I get from what you have written is that there is power, and then there is people's intention with that power?
(as a side note, how I've come to understand Nietzsche's will to power is that it was part of his attempting to stave off what he saw as the HUGE PROBLEM at the time, that of nihilism, because he saw that even the priests didn't believe anymore, so good ol' Nietz tried to come up with a worldview that would work, one based not on giving up authority for one's actions to something outside one's self, but to self-actualize and be self-aware, no matter how painful it was to do so...)

Update:
Ok, that was an INTERESTING experience. Usually, when I have experiences like in the OP they become a part of me...but this one, this...worldview...lasted less than a week. Thank goodness :3
A worldview that I find disgusting I was able to experience and not die or get horribly psychically mutilated. NEAT :3

I have often thought that the insatiable desire of some "Type A" men and the odd Type A woman to attain power are what drives history.
But that seems to be human nature, the world over. I don't think can eliminate that personality type from the species. So history goes on...
There are really not "aggressive ethnic groups," there are only ethnic groups who have been taken over (temporarily or not so temporarily as the case may be) by aggressive men who will do anything to keep that power.

Chuckle chuckle Inanna. Sounds good. Alexander the Great was one of those mega Power freaks. Good thing to notice about the world, and be able to put it away again. I sometimes have these inner struggles too.
