I came across this amazing story From Huffington Post, titled "Damascus Snowball Truce Brings Fleeting Joy to War-torn Country"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/10/damascus-snowball-truce_n_24469...
Quote from the article:
"Last night, for the first time in months, I heard laughter instead of shelling. Even the security forces put down their guns and helped us make a snowman," Iman, a resident of the central Shaalan neighbourhood, said by Skype on Thursday.

Yes, discussing our thoughts fears about death with others is good. I would have chosen a different name like "Existential Questions Cafe" or something, or even " Meaning of Life Cafe". Death Cafe sounds, well, morbid, to me and would probably keep me from participating.

'Pipes of Peace' is ALSO an annual pipe bands concert in Glasgow produced by Fraser Sergeant in memory of his brother, the late Jason Prentice, who founded Pipes of Peace in 2007.
Jason was a well-known drummer in the pipe band world. He worked at RG Hardie & Co and was a member of the group Celtic Spirit and played with Lomond and Clyde Pipe Band.
The Pipes of Peace Concert promotes Celtic music, culture and tradition to an international audience by bringing together a selection of global acts to perform on stage together each year.

It's a shift away from the "pipes of war" nonsense — the military/imperial nostalgia — that bedevils the bagpipes, (especially in the "New World".

Actually, just poked around and found out it's a corporate sponsored event without a 'cause' per say. A little disappointing. It does look fun. Can 'fun' be a cause? ;)

I too heard about these "Death Cafes" that started out in Switzerland and are now becoming popular in North America. In an informal setting, people discuss all kinds of issues around death and dying.
We could make our WonderCafe Health and Aging forum into our very own Death Cafe. I don't think it sounds morbid; death is part of life.
