It's a cute gimmick. I think I'll go buy a new cell phone plan ;). Who is cleaning and maintaining the slots in case people decide to stick spit balls and cigarette butts into them? Somehow, call me a cynic, but I can see that happening.

Lol. I automatically thought, "I am not sure if I would want to stick my hand into one of those during cold season, or touch something gross. I hope someone's cleaning it regularily." And I hope they're paying them decently to do it. But, you're right. That's me--I am a worry wart. It is a gimmick though, you have to admit. I am sure they are not just doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Seriously though, have you never been downtown and sat in gum or a goober ball on the bus bench? Someone's paid to come around and clean that stuff. Someone besides me must have thought of that, don't you think?
I am not as much of a germ freak as you might think. I just don't like the idea of sticking my hands into things to find "surprise goodies" at bus stops.

somegalfromcan,
someone helped me figure out why Victoria is so dry -- no mountains to cause massive amounts of rain to fall?

Yup - clouds hit mountains, which causes them to drop their loads on the poor, unwitting villagers below.

It still gets a fair amount of rain. Mount Baker's visible from Victoria--but it's not right in the mountains. So, not quite as much rain as Vancouver.
