How do you relieve stress when you feel stressed out? I like to go for a walk or grab my fishing rod and go to the stream or lake and fish even if i dont catch anything.

I am actually going for my first ever massage on Saturday. Another co-worker and I were really nervous about going for one and an old hat at it has offered to come along. I am lucky as it will be covered by my insurance. I have been pretty stressed lately so I hope it helps. I'll let you know.
Walks and swimming help me too but finding the time and the money for swimming is stressful so they don't happen very often.

When I was working on my Master's degree at U of T in the 70's, I used to walk from Charles Street down to Union Station and back. Now that I'm disabled and can't walk very far, I bike as far as I can (stopping several times to let my muscles and joints catch up with me). As I ride, I identify the people or things causing my stress and I address them/it in a conscending manner, laughing as I go. When I get back from the ride, I write down several alternatives to reacting to stress and pick the one that works best for me at that time. Laughter is one of my major coping mechanisms. I got rid of the stress of having my life threatened by granting my ex the divorce she wanted. My stress levels dropped astronomically. Do whatever works for you.

Greetings!
Unfortunately, I relieve stress in a "not good way" - I EAT! (and what I eat usually isn't too healthy)

Listen to music, pray, eat. That's in an ideal situation. Other times, I don't handle it nearly as well.

Here are the best ways to relieve stress. It's a longer list, but I shortened it to the things I've tried. (It works.)

Greetings!
LoveJoy, I think all those things you mentioned would cause me stress, not relieve it (lol)!

Well, I'm back from my massage and I would highly recommend it. If you have insurance that covers it or any extra money then go. I feel like a whole new person.

LOL LoveJoy.
Wouldn't the pop corn just cause more stress though?

Not if you just clutch your sides and roll on the floor laughing the whole time it's popping all over your kitchen.
Then just call the dog in....
...make sure your husband is the one walking the dog the next time. Provide him with a lawn-clippings-sized poop bag without saying anything about it...

Greetings,
Just playing around with some of the settings to see what happens.
It takes me awhile to adapt to change . . . and I think it's going to take a bit to get used to this new wondercafe site!
I tried to changed my avatar, but all my pics are too large and right now I don't have a program to resize them as my old computer crashed and I lost everything I had on it!
I can't figure out how to line space to make a new paragraph . . . can anybody tell me how to do that?
Hope, peace, joy, love,
Beloved

Stress . . . yup . . . this is stressful . . . I think I will go and find something choclatey to eat. Hope, peace, joy, love,

Walking. Knitting (love the way the rhythm of the needles calms my mind). Talking to my dog.

Ha, you made me laugh stoneyeyeball. My life is quite unstressful since I'm retired, the kids are grown and doing well, money isn't as tight on the farm, etc. The little bumps that come along are easily handled by coffee/coors light with friends and the women in my immediate family. If the stress is unrelated to farmboy (grin) then there's another option that is lovely....

...and making sure I get my sleep, as when I'm well rested stress doesn't have the same affect on me.
