Coconut Water

I drink it cause I like the taste . . . but many are spouting that it is the healthy new drink of the times.

The brand I prefer is Vita Coco, but many other brands are good also.

Have you tried it?  Do you like it?  Do you think it makes you healthier?

I haven't tried it - but it certainly seems fashionable!  And tasty!

I've tried it and my husband drinks it often. He takes some to the golf course, especially on hot days. Apparently it does the same thing as Gatorade but is healthier. I like the taste of it.

I like my water mainly without additives- so no vitamins, flavours, carbonation, coconut... although something a little stronger is ok from time to time...

I'm a plain water guy. Maybe a hint of lemon at most. Coconut, while I don't dislike it the way my family does, isn't something I'd put in my water. May try it sometime, though, just to see what it is like.

I like it, but I buy the cheapest brands, and they have as much sugar as pop/juice/etc so it's not really a health food :)

I have been told that water wasn't actually hydrating enough for me though, and I have trouble drinking enough plain water, so there's an excuse to have the delicious drinks even if there is sugar.

I've only had it fresh, straight from green coconuts: if it's like that, it's delicious and very thirst quenching.

Oh, I have had it fresh from the coconut too.  That's also good, but unfortunately expensive :(

I've tried one that was okay but another no-name brand was gross.

My husband drinks "blue monkey" brand coconut water. It has no sugar or additives and is very good. There is another brand his store sells that I can't remember now. It has a green label. I don't think of it as "water" but more in the juice family.

Hi Chemgal: I never had to pay for it. But living in Canada rather denies one that privilege.

I really like coconut water.

It's very high in potassium, which I find really helps with fatigue and/or nausea.

A few of my co-workers have found it really helpful for morning sickness.

I don't know if it is helping me or not, but I do like it - and it is the only thing other than water and some herbal teas that I am able to drink at this time.

A friend recommended it when I couldn't eat bananas and was concerned about this loss of potassium in my diet, she explained that coconut water has a lot of potassium.

I try to make sure that the kind I buy does not say "made from concentrate" on the container.

One hot day last summer, on the way home from work, I stopped at a convenience store and bought a can of Grace coconut water. I had never tried coconut water before, and hoped that it might be refreshing. It only took me about two sips of the stuff to know that it's not the drink for me. It may be nutritious but I can't stand the taste.

I have found the cans do not taste very good . . . I much prefer the ones that are in cartons.

I had some Coconut Bliss "ice cream" (non dairy!) tonight - yummy!!

Beloved - Maybe I should try a cartoned one then. I just found the Grace stuff waay to sweet (strange thing since I like soft drinks).

carolla - Now that I'm pretty sure I would enjoy. I like coconut.

I'm with Jae on this one, I can't stand the taste. I've tried both canned and carton and couldn't have more than a few sips of either. Healthy or not, I can't make myself do it.
