Folks,
I'm sorry to have to share with you that Crazyheart is undergoing surgery today, as a lump was discovered in her breast.
Both her family doctor and surgeon are optimistic about the prognosis.
She has given me permission to post this thread today.
She said to tell you that God is with her - adding in her typically generous way - "tell them to pray for those who need their prayers more."
She mentioned that she would like some messages to read when she comes home from hospital, as she doesn't "want to be forgotten". (as if!)
So please take this opportunity to show Crazyheart your support, care and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
She is Wondercafe's number one contributor - her ability to think up threads is second to none.
I'm sure there are many here who, like me, admire her energy, enthusiasm and humour.
We are a community, and like all good communities, know how to respond when one of us is in need.
Get well soon my friend, and know that your Wondercafe community cares.

"tell them to pray for those who need their prayers more." ... hmmmmm
Let me tell you that when you're getting something cut out of you and waiting to hear whether its cancer or whether they "got all of it" or some similar thing, then you are deserving enough ... and even if you're not sure about the "efficacy of prayer" it sure is nice to feel the positive energy that comes with knowing that people are praying for you ... (and they're not even related) ... its kind of a shock, but a pleasant shock and it definitely has a positive effect ... at least it did for me
so I'm saying my prayers for crazyheart tonight ... if not now, when?

Hi Crazyheart - thought this little poem kind of describes how we feel about you.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Get well soon!
When You're Not Here
When you are ill,
our sun goes under a cloud.
Your presence in our lives
is such a bright joy
that everything seems in shadow
when you're not here.
When you aren't feeling well,
we feel the lack
of your glowing energy
and contagious vitality.
When you are sick
we feel incomplete,
like a jigsaw puzzle
with a missing piece;
Please rest,
take good care of yourself,
and feel better.
We miss you
and want you back.
Get well soon.

In UU services, we light candles for those things which are a joy or a concern to us. I'm not going to church these days, but I'll light a candle in my heart for you, CH, and say a prayer or two.

Take care of yourself...not sure how fast you will be typing once you get out, but hoping your scrolling is easily done, so you can read this thread.
Prayers, light, good wishes.....are all sent your way by this community.

I've just heard from Crazyheart - who's just come home from hospital.
In her own words, she is feeling "loopy" still from the medication etc - but she says to thank you all for your kind words and she'll reply when she can.
Her doctor said everything went well - and she has to wait and see if her lymph nodes are free - and then they will advise her about further treatment.
Writing is difficult for her, as at the moment she can only write with her left hand...
It was great to hear from her so soon - and there will be an extra spring in my step today.

Loopy? I think that is also known as "out of it" or "feeling like crap". That, with the clarity of hindsight, is the way I would describe now what I felt like when I had my operation, although at the time I think I just said something like "I'm fine" or "I feel loopy". Of course it wasn't the same operation that CH had but it was the same basic premise ... namely, removing stuff. It is mostly unpleasant this "loopiness" but it is also a period when you see just how resilient you actually are; how, strangely, you are able to experience something you couldn't really have imagined a month before and take it more or less in stride and deal with it as it comes so that when someone asks you how you feel you are able to summarize it by saying something with some fun in it like "I feel loopy". When you hear someone say something like that it is an optimistic sign given by an optimistic person. Loopy is good. It leaves room for improvement but overall its pretty good. It means you're tougher than you thought you might be.
Hang in there CH.

Ah, but we both know the Roofer!
Besides, what's the best location for developing a sense of humour - if it isn't the Saskatchewan prairies or the Aussie bush?
After hearing from Crazy this morning - I attended my exercise class - and managed to do amazing things for my pelvic floor........... (well, one of us has to keep the Roofer entertained.)

qwerty, Birthstone usually calls me Pilgrims Process.
Which is a coincidence when you consider that it's only since being with Wondercafe that I've developed an interest in Process Theology.

Praying that the news continues to be good, and that crazyheart is back with us before we know it.
I wish wondermail had a small e-card component. I like sending get-well cards. Makes me feel like I'm 'doing' something to help.
And it's funny how the world has gotten so much smaller. When my guy's concerned about me and thinks I need a yack with one of my closest spiritual advisers, he calls her...in Delaware.

I'm just reading this now. So sorry to hear that this complication has arisen in your life Crazyheart, and wishing you a speedy recovery & good news when the results come in. This waiting time is tough, but I'm confident that you will find entertaining ways to pass the time. No doubt you are keeping Mr. Crazyheart on his toes!!!
You, my friend, are a precious gem. You have wonderful gifts of keeping discussions going, laughter flowing and friendships growing. You are loved, and will be missed while you are recuperating. Get well soon, and please let us know how we can help and support you through this journey.

I'm also just reading this now!
Thinking of you with much care and concern, Crazyheart, as you go through this time of recovery and uncertainty in waiting. Also wishing you a speedy recovery and good healing - trusting the results and you into God's hands.
Take very good care of yourself and allow others to be the caregiver in the days ahead. I'm sure you've toted and fetched for all those in your life over the years - now allow them to do the same for you :)
Keep us posted (through PP or by yourself when you can) as to how you are doing.
Hope, peace, joy, love . . .

"A coincidence is God wearing sunglasses and a beard."
I think I met one of those this summer.....
OK, Pilgrims - what is this new "pelvic floor" you refer to? Is it a type of tile, or wood, is it specific to Aussieland, can we get it shipped overseas to Canuckland...?
Meanwhile CH - hope you are resting and feeling better soon.
My sister had a radical mastectomy 2 years ago and is doing well.
Didn't need follow-up treatment other than a pill a week.
I hope your test results are negative. Take care!

What does the pelvic floor do?
. It supports your pelvic organs and the contents of your abdomen, especially when you are standing or exerting yourself.
. It supports your bladder to help it stay closed. It actively squeezes when you cough or sneeze to help avoid leaking.
. It is used to control wind and when "holding on" with your bowels.
. It helps to increase sexual awareness both for yourself and your partner during sexual intercourse.
Gecko, gotta say, you've been hanging out with those whales too long, possum!
Here is my poor attempt to copy and paste info to enlighten you - next time you go bouncing across the oceans in a "rubber ducky" on whale patrol - you will no doubt appreciate the value of pelvic floor exercises.
It's times like this I really miss Crazyheart, betcha she knows everything there is to know about her pelvic floor.
Hope you're resting quietly at home Crazyheart.
God is with you - as is your family and friends.
(BTW, the Social forum is definately lacking your presence).

This will just be a short note to thank you all for the kind messages. And of course you must know that I have lots of loopy stories. I kept my family entertained after taking morphine and finally I seem back in the world of the living.

D'y'know the Nobel Prizes? Well an organization called Improbable Research gives out Ig Nobel Prizes that make people laugh, and then make them think.
Here is one that shows the importance of the pelvic floor amongst a heterosexual couple. The quirky MRI scan starts at 1:38.
