Anti-bullying campaign

Hello parents.  I am a lifelong member of the UCC and just found this site.  I've been up half the night reading the content, can't wait to get into the discussions.

Anyway, I manage a charity that puts an anti-bullying program into elementary schools.  www.rocksolid.bc.ca   We are looking for WITS Ambassadors to 'spread the word' about our wonderful programs.  We are an idealistic charity:  keeping our admin costs to a minimum and directing maximum dollars to the cause means no money spent on advertising.  This is why I am trying to let schools across BC know about this wonderful program via our WITS Ambassadors.

Our ambassadors are anyone willing to take one of our pamphlets into their principal and ask him/her to think about having the program in their school.  The Ambassador will receive a personalized WITS Program Book (with their photo on the front and a page inside thanking them for their effort) and a letter from the Premier of BC thanking them for being a volunteer.  Ideally, the Ambassador will be a child or a family.  It's a great self-esteem boost for a child and an excellent way to introduce volunteerism.

I can't say enough good things about our Programs.  They are simple and proven effective and best of all:   FREE.  We are sensitive to the financial stress felt by schools these days so we fundraise diligently so that we can provide all the resources (approx. $1000 per school per year:   books, poster, pamphlets, etc) free-of-charge to member schools.

If you live in BC and would like to nominate your child to be a WITS Ambassador, contact me at info@rocksolid.bc.ca   If you know of any other ways to spread the news of our charity and anti-bullying programs, I'd welcome your advice.

Hi Gray ... welcome to wondercafe.  I'm glad you've found your way here ... so true, there's lots of interesting stuff going on!

I'm in Ontario, so can't help you out with ambassadors.  Anti-bullying is so very important and congrats to you for being involved in finding solutions to help our kids.  I took a look at your website - seems like a good programme.  I have friends who run the Canadian Safe School Network ( www.canadiansafeschools.com) - doing a lot of similar work - are you familiar with their organization.  They have a huge annual conference coming up in Feb. and run lots of others too for students, parents & educators.

Hi Carolla. Yes, I am familiar with CSSN.  RSF does something a little different...we focus on providing our yearlong WITS Program to elementary schools.  We raise the money for the resources (books, brochures, pamphlets, etc) and donate the whole shebang to member schools.  It is nice to see that so many people are making an effort to address peer vicitmization.

I'm from Ontario originally, we'll be home for Christmas in a few weeks.
