There was a cartoon about. If you hear someone criticize Israel, he's an anti-semite. If he criticizes the US policy, he's anti-American. If he says anything about Canada, he's anti-Canadian. It's the universal response, applicable to any opinion on any matter. You're anti-....   I'm not suprised you use it.

That newspaper, by the way, is a newspaper, the oldest one in Israel, one that is very widely read in Israel, and established in 1918. It publishes in both English and  Hebrew. And it is very critical of the Israeli government. Get the pciture?

Hi graeme - it is a pretty interesting news source.  A friend of mine who lived in Tel Aviv  for a number of years, but didn't speak Hebrew, used to send me postings from Haaretz.   Opened my eyes from a different perspective. 

Beshpin - I really do wish you'd give it a rest ... your harassment is getting tiresome.  

There have been two, pretty scary reports in hte last couple of weeks, both by very senior American military officiers.

One was by an admiral very worrked that the US will be dfrawn into an Israeli attack on Iran. The the other was by General Petraeus, as respected as they get. He told congress that an attack on Iran would be a disaster, setting off a gensral uprisinig in the whole moslem world,an uprising that would necessarily involved all the major powers.It would be a war that could go on for many years, and would be unwinnable for anybody.

The US is already fighting the longest war in its history, with no sign it is anywhere close to ending, and which has already brought Pakistan close to collapse.

It is the American \view, as well as that of Haaretz.that Israel does not want peace, has enormous power in Washington,and is determined to knock off Iran. The US will certainly join in (and even if it ididn't, all the bombs and aircraft would be made in the USA., Canada has already publicly announced by it will support Israel if anybody attacks. And,as Bush has taught us, it is remarkably easy to sell a story that the other countrty started it.

But very few American politicians can afford to draw the anger of the Jewisih lobby group AIPAC. Not can Harrper afford to offend CJC without angering much of his neanderthal base.

But, gee,Iran might develop a nuclear warhead to use against ppor little israel. And Israel has only 80 to 250 nuclear bombs to reaspond with.

And how come the US is so upset that Iran MIGHT develop one bomb when it shows no such concern over North Korea having at least four?

As Haaretz shows,there is a peace movement in Israel.I know some of then, and also what they  have suffered under from Israeli Zionists - as well as the damage done CJC to  Canadian jJews who dare to criticize Israel.

Right now, Israel under a Netaanyhu is the most dangerous and irresponsible country in the world. It is determined to pull us into a war without end. And it is now the most likely coumty to be the first to use nuclear weapons.

Nor will we have to wait long to see whether the above comes true. We will almost certatinly know within months.

Actually "The Haaretz" DOES make an interesting read no matter what the situation.
