I'm not sure I'd buy into her political views - but she's quite right about knowledge in our society. However, I wouldn't blame any education system for it. Much of our education doesn't come from school. Never has. It comes from the values that surround us in daily life. Those come from a relentless drive for consumerism, and from new media that are largely propaganda.

I would worry a good deal about schools teaching moral values. inevitably, those would soon be the very ones that our now getting us into trouble. That's why I'm very  much opposed to the intrusion of private business into education. (at all levels.)

We all have to be the ones who help others and ourselves to work out moral values. We live in a society that has pretty much abandoned them. In fact, we have seen the emergence of a sort of anti-morality as a result of a capitalist system that really is not capitalism at all.

We all have to help others and ourselves. We have to work it out among ourselves with discussion and example. That's why it always bothers me to see a faith and religion section that wastes its time on irrelevant speculations about whether Jesus parted his hair on the right or the left.
