It is 5:42pm here, and no trick or treaters yet.

The wind has been high and it is cool, but not cold.  I intentionally have not raked the leaves from our many maples, catalpu's, oak, etc, so lots of things to rustle as you walk.

My youngest is sitting reading by the door, in his glory with tons of treats to hand out., and a new book.

The treats are the little boxes of smarties, kit-kats, etc ....nut free, skittles, gummy treats.  Depends on how cute they are, he will give 3 to......who knows of them.

(ok, got a bit confused then, when I changed computers, and got one that had already adjusted the clock)

First children arrived at 6:30pm on the dot.  They were little ones, and said, in cute little voices "thank-you".    Almost immediately after them, another group arrived...and now, another group are here.

Greetings!

Our first trick or treater was around 4 p.m.  So far, they have all been quite little and walking with parents.  It is very cold, and in places it is very windy.  So far we have had 31 little trick or treaters.  I have noticed a lot of cars driving with the ones probably aged 5-8.  The children go house to house and the car drives along side them.  It is dark, and has been for quite a while now.  Soon the older 10-15 year olds will come out.  In the past the latest one has been around 9 p.m.

So far the cutest costumes have been a little froggie and a little princess.

Hope, peace, joy, love . . .

Greetings

I am handing out little bags of chips and little bags of nachos.  And how many have I eaten you ask - more than I should have - hope I don't run out now.

Hope, peace, joy, love ...

Just shut the door here.  We had 250+ kids by 8:00 PM.  (We don't know the exact number, but we bought 300 candies and ate some.)

Lots of cool costumes tonight, but I saw lots of other cools ones during the safe trick or treating at the mall yesterday after school.  Being an old-school Nintendo fan, I loved the Mario and Luigi costumes that a pair of siblings wore (yesterday at the mall).

And they were so polite this year!  Almost everyone said thank you!

The village near us has a bylaw that they cannot trick or treat, so we get our own village and a few from the other village. It is usally up around 100, but this year it was cold and wet and windy. We were around 50 I bet. It is a mad rush from dusk until about 8:30. It does not take long to get from one end of the village to the next. Being a small town, they all say thank you and often call you by name.

Our first arrived at 5 pm. She explained to my wife that she knew it was not dark yet and clocks need to change because she has to be in bed by 8 pm and she needs a bath after trick or treating. LMAO

We both take turns handing out candy and it is always peanut free and chocolate. They get a handful each.

On my watch,  I opened the door as up the walk came a little lion on foot and a leopard being carried. The mom said to the lion,  "What do you say?" The answer was, "Well I know what I'm 'sposed to say, but I am 'sposed to knock on the door first". While giggling, I stepped back and closed the screen door partly and said, "Ok, let's try this again. I messed it up for you".
Knock, knock. Trick or Treat!  ROFLMAO

We saw the cutest little crocodile.

9 pm and all done. With leftovers! Yippee!!!!

hey folks - we had 30+ kids and the best one I saw was a leprechan with a great big green hat, and giant orange fuzzy eyebrows and mustache/beard.  He even had a green gingham pillowcase!.

Lots of princesses and a trio of Buzz Lightyear, Woody & Batman.

We handed out starbursts and skittles, at my daughter's request.  She didn't trick or treat - she has some friends over for scary movies and Rockband.  My son went out and filled a big bag with goodies.

We had very few...haven't had one for 30min, but light is still on.  Way too much candy left in this house for anyone's good.  I would be surprised if we had 30 kids.

SG, I love the story of the wee one that knew s/he was to knock first...and your fixing of it.  way cute.

We had a dad come, trick or treating for a 9yr old who was too sick to come out....My youngest son gave a few handfuls for that one.  Would be tough to be at home on what is one of your peak trick or treating years...

Oh PInga- you might just have to have Candyman bring some over here :)

Poor kid - one of my kids was sick one year, but I can't remember which.  Anyway, we had to divide evrything up.

Because we always dress up to hand out treats, at lights out, we must go see the immediate neighbours. The wife was a vampiress. I tried being a pirate one year, but they requested I go back to the standby. I am always a zombie, just like out of Night of the Living Dead. "They're coming to get you, Barbara". The wife went and brought us back a few bags of chips each and a couple chocolate bars. Then I took my turn and brought back two diet sodas for her and a sixpack of beer for myself. You gotta love Trick or Treating!!!

Rocky Horror is on right now on Vancouver Island.

My kids have hoardes of candy.  They trick 'or' treated with friends downtown while we waited for the Olympic Torch to come through town, which it did at 6:00 p.m.  Then we took our kids around our friend's neighbourhood.  We live out of town so, it's good to be tight with some 'townies'  - especially when they live a block away from the regular parade route.

My kids were gorgeous.  The youngest was a dead bride.  I sewed little plastic insects all over her dress.  She had a real live veil ( tasteful peach and ivory  with circlet ensemble) and worms crawling through her bouquet.  We did white face with black eyes.  All the moms joked that she looked like them at 3 a.m..  My oldest  was a witch with shiny silver shoes and tights with orange witches, cats and pumpkins on them and a feather boa witch had with a rubber bat dangling off of it. She  is nearing puberty and so wouldn't let me put moles and things on her face - sad. sad, sad.

i couldn't watch rocky horror.  crap.  its november 1st, and it just doesn't seem like halloween is offically over for me without it.

anyways, we actually had about twice the number of trick or treaters we had last year, we had about 50 last night... it was warm but windy.

most notably i had THE CUTEST little 2 year old boy come by dressed as a spider!!  i also had a little bee that made me squeal with delight, and a darth maul that was FABULOUS... his mom had even taken the time to put the little horns on his head.  my god, george lucas himself would have saluted her.

i only had a few leftovers, which is okay, because i only buy halloween candy that i want to eat.

Greetings!

We had 52 little trick or treaters.  They were all very polite and all said "thank you", most said "Happy Halloween".  I had purchased about 180 treats . . . so I am going to have to send them to work with hubby so I don't eat all the rest myself.  Our last one arrived shortly after 9 p.m. last night.  Lots of cute costumes.

No boxes for Unicef - they must not do that anymore.

Hope, peace, joy, love . ..

We had a really quiet halloween this year, comparitively speaking.  Normally we have hundreds of kids (we live in a family based suburb) but this year it seemed much quieter.  We wondered if H1N1 was changing people's attitudes or if more people were sick this year.

Specialson handed out candy with his dad and fell asleep early (exhausting work!). Our youngest was an adorable knight in shining armour and our oldest was a rather creative basket of dirty laundry!

We ended up handing out handfuls of candy just so we wouldn't have tons of leftovers.  Still have some left.  Licorice....my favourite.

Our first trick or treater was a toddler at about 5:30 with two women. Last trick or treater was at about 6:30 cause we ran out of candy, but that was early. Trick or treating went on til about 7:30 in the neighbourhood. We had 15-20 kids before we ran out.

Best costume? There was a pretty good princess, and a girl in black with a black wig, but I don't know what character she was. SHe looked pretty funky though, and a really cute little lion cub.

We hand out mostly fruit flavoured hard candies and butterscotches. A dying species in trick or treat bags.

My apartment doesn't give out candy so I had no trick or treaters.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  It was warm but windy, the wind pushing the leaves across the streets.  There was an almost full moon with clouds scuttling across it.  Really spooky.  Someone should have filmed it as an into to a horror movie.  My son was a zombie.  He left his makeup and wound tattoos at school so we had to improvise.  His chin is still stained with red.  We used to go up by my mom's house to trick or treat but we stayed close to home.  I was talking to a woman giving out treats and she said that they usually had way more kids.  Lucky for Somekid because people were giving him mittfuls in order to get rid of it.  The most interesting thing that he got was a tourism NS fun things to do in NS booklet with crayons included.

Pretty quiet. Almost no kids on the street. A very few were heard/seen.

Seemed to have fewer kids than last year, but we don't count.  Started around 6:30 finished a little after 8:00pm - except for a few of the older stragglers.  Most had great costumes - it was cold & windy tho, so lots were wearing their coats too.  Tooo much left-over candy (ROCKETS! and little packs of sour things, fuzzy peaches etc.)  I think I'll drop some off at the food bank.

Most creative were a pair of girls, probably grade 6 or 7 - who were a pair of running shoes - they'd constructed huge (maybe 5 foot long) shoes, worn suspended from their shoulders and surrounding their waists, toes of the shoes sticking way out ahead of them - it was a hoot to see them try to turn around on the porch!

this repeats what I've heard from many people back in Montreal - a noticeable drop in the humber of children. I have a strong feeling we are seeing fears of H1N1. And that could mean we should anticipate something like panic if it develops.

Have we all forgotten what God's Word says about having "no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness..." Eph 5:11

I realize "Halloween" is popular in today's culture but does that make it OK? It is a high holy day for witches. Why are Christians in denial about this? Yes, it seems so "sanitized" now, I mean they sell candy at Shopper's Drug Mart but that doesn't mean this day of dark ritual is something to participate in in you truly love our Lord Jesus Christ and heed God's warnings.

Personally, my husband and I took our two kids on a wonderful beach vacation and ignored the whole thing.

So, what your opinion be of the the evangelicals in my neighbourhood who handed out tracts to trick or treaters? Should they have just closed their doors and taken off for the night or were they doing good by spreading the Word to those us misguided kids?
