Just made and uploaded this collection of many of my favorite scenery photos from my three years in Jasper. I used a very atmospheric electro ambient song as the music, which you may find a bit odd/unusual. It's a piece that reminds me of that place with it's windy, moany, creeky, clikely noises, that remind me of the pristine quiet, solitude, ice, wind in the trees, northern lights, and elk buggling. But you can always just watch it for the pictures.
It's a precious place, with precious memories to hubby and me.

Wonderful images, Elanorgold, and the music works to create a mood.
Never visited Jasper in winter but I have been a couple of times in the summer and it is a beautiful park. Went to the top of the mountain in the Tramway, swam in hot springs, etc.

For some strange reason I have not seen really any of Alberta. I hope to fix that one day. Thanks for the lovely pics!

Elanorgold - your video is beautiful! You are a talented photographer and your choice of music really matches the pictures well.
Trishcuit - you definitely must go to Alberta sometime. The Rocky Mountains are my favourite part, but the prairies are beautiful too. What struck me is how huge the sky can seem - especially on a sunny day. It can be almost overwhelming!

Thanks girls. Remember that Jasper is naturally stunning, you hardly need aim your camera! Plus I had a fantastic camera, my grandmothers 1943 Zeiss Ikon. God rest it's soul. I foolishly, and forever to my regret, took it out in -23 weather and something inside snapped. I have it still, in case one day, a camera outfit can repair it, but the parts are no longer made. ALso keep in mind these are the best of 3 years of photo oppourtunity and hundreds of shots. Ah but thank you still : ) It's the memories that made it.
A slideshow of the prairie would be a good challenge. There is a song I always associate with the prairie but it's a sad one. Yeah the skies were fantastic, the best part. MAde me want to be a meteorologist!

Elanorgold,
nature certainly is a wanton flirt :3
some of the mountains around there remind me of solid Jasper, which is a kind of agate

Beautiful, Elanor. We toured the Alberta side of the mountains in 1992 or thereabouts (before we got married, at least). Flew into Calgary, then rented some wheels and drove out to Banff and then up to Jasper. All beautiful. Must get back out there again some day.

Thanks guys. Yes, we saw Jasper stone for sale in the gift shops, along with many other popular crystals and minerals. I like the flashy black silvery stuff, mica...hematite?
We spent a few weeks living in Banff before we moved to Jasper. Driven through many times. Been to Calgary lots of times too.
I've been busy the past couple days making (not the whole time, but almost all my computer time) a prairie video! I'll try uploading the highest res one tonight. I hope to share it tomorrow. Thanks to Somegal for the inspiration! I'm excited, it's my first rock music video!

Elanorgold,
if it looked like this,
that was probably hematite -- though the hematite i am used to looks like dirt or rust
You can recognize mica because it is flaky, like flaky pastry

Rough hematite I think. What a cool rock.
