Since BC place roof just collapsed
We'll take homeless Lions. BCs loss can be our gain! :)
Glad no one was hurt so I can make such jokes :)

You can have them we have too many sports teams in Alberta anyway.

I just hoping the Ti-Cats get a team back.

does ottawa deserve a team? I mean, here's a place that had a team whose name had some historical meaning for ottawa. Then hey get a new team and give it some bozo name which, I suppose, was meant to strike terror into the opposition. i can't remember it exactly. but i think it was something like the Ottawa Naughty Boys.

Jonas,
Hi,
You impugned:
I just hoping the Ti-Cats get a team back.
There is a working theory that one very infrequent poster here (one Stuart Lyster) who frequently taunts me elsewhere about the tough times the Ti-Cats have gone through once sat in a seat directly beneath where the hold in the roof appeared.
I'm pretty sure it was just a warning.
Don't know how many more he'll need nor do I know how wise it would be to speak ill of the Ti-Cats when their number one fan's wrath has been raised.
But by all means continue.
Grace and peace to you.
John

Jonas,
Hi,
You lamented:
Unfortunetly, I bleed Black and Gold
Oskee Wee Wee
Ah well. Lamenting is different than lambasting.
I'd come and join you in your lament but I'm a little week from all my Black and Gold hemorrhaging.
A few more months and I'll be okay to take the tourniquet off.
Grace and peace to you.

I changed my mind Ottawa cannot have the CFL team. CANADA has too many sports teams and we waste far too much time on the topic of all sports. The roof caving in simply means that God is tired of sports. Don't read anything more into it than that.

I'm with serena. me and serena. that's it.
I have taught many athletes, including pros. A more vain, praise seeking lot I have never encountered. And there is someothing of unreality about fans, people who are creatrallen when their team loses, even as they see their own families crumbling.
sports - something so irrelevant as to be suitable only for children or senior clergy.
How do you feel about me now, serena?

graeme did you say all that to impress me or did you really mean it? Wait..., either is really OK. So, you may not be so bad.

my family isn't crumbling.
just the saskatchewan roughriders.
i've been a fan since birth, and it has taught me that 'theres always next year!!'. i think thats a great lesson, don't you?? whenever the riders miss the grey cup, you cry a bit, you bitch about the coaching, you dump a load of manure on the driveway of the placekickers neighbour, and then you just say 'hey, next year we're gonna win it all!!!' and then you move on.
great lesson.

see, typical football fan learns the wrong lesson.
The lesson is - when you follow Saskatchewan, you are going to get creamed year after year forever. It is never going to impove.
If you stand in the middle of a highway and get hit by a truck, would you say the lesson is to try again standing there?
Well, yes, i guess if you're a saskatchewan fan, you would.
Do we have any statistics on fatality rates for Saskatchewan fans?

no no no, see thats the problem... you are using an incorrect analogy...
saskatchewan has a lot of farmers. typically, farmers have good years, and they have bad years.
every year, the simple act of seeding your field is a HUGE gamble.... you chuck the seeds in the ground, and then you HOPE. you hope that there won't be a late frost, that there won't be a drought, that there won't be a torrential rainstorm, that there won't be a windstorm, a hailstorm... etc etc etc. its a total gamble... you put your money and time into this field, and mother nature could take it all out with a 5 minute hailstorm.
in the same way, every year, saskatchewan fans buy season tickets at taylor field... and you HOPE. you hope their won't be an injury to the starting qb, that their won't be a loosing streak, that there won't be a coaching change required midseason... its a total gamble. you put your money and time into taylor field, and an opposition place kicker could take it all out in the last 5 seconds of the western semi-final game.
but if the farmers lost hope, and didn't start over again in the spring, the rest of the country would have no food on the table. and if the roughrider fans didn't buy tickets and hope year after year, there would be no CFL.
now THAT is a far better analogy, my friend. the saskatchewan roughriders are what is keeping this football league nourished. without us, you would have nothing.

I abandon my case, and bend my knee to the Saskatchewan farmer.
I wonder, t hough, if it wouldn't be wiser to follow the example of our fishermen? For two months a year, they take leisurely boat cruises through waters that no longer have fish in them. Then they collect uic.
Now, that's planning for the future.

After a recent CFL game ended, the announcer started to say "This win today means...". My son who hates sports (mybad) walked out of the room saying, "It means nothing. It's just a game. It means nothing!".

well, if anything, if its a big loss for saskatchewan, it means someones getting a load of manure dumped on their neighbours driveway, anyways....
