I really do not spend enough time on Youtube I guess. I have made the wonderful discovery that there are poetry videos there. It began when Elanorgold favorited this video:
Mary Oliver, as I have likely stated on WC before, is probably my favorite modern poet. In the sidebar where it suggests other videos that might be related, I then found this:
A video for a poem. And a very good poem at that. Very cool.

Here's a treat for Mary Oliver fans - a simply beautiful rendition of "The Journey".
(This must be close to a perfect poem)

"wild geese" is one of the poems that were read at pandemonium's and my wedding :3
(the others were that famous one by Marianne Williamson , "And One Learns" and "Ulysses" by Alfred Lord Tennyson)

I've read Ulysses in services twice. It's one of my favorite Tennyson poems (along with "Crossing the Bar"). Once was at a child dedication (the child's name was Ulysses) and the other for one of my church services.

Oh my goodness! One of my all time favorites, Pilgrim. Thank you. Do you know who the reader is? Did a great job with it.

Sorry, everinbj's, I don't know for sure who the reader is.
A bit of sleuthing has come up with the name Naseeruddin Shah - an Indian film director and actor.........?
Inanna, I once read that women fall in love with a man's voice initially - more so than their looks.

alan rickman, james earl jones, tom waits, dylan thomas, peter falk *shiver*
EDIT: also, if anyone wants to know what a song is or what a picture is from, there are web sites and programs that can help you with that (asides from all our friends, google):
for sound: here is a link to a webpage giving various options
for images: Tin Eye is a good one to start out trying; not overly complex

Haven't listened to it yet (tonight) but I've heard that name. He's pretty big in Bollywood IIRC.

Here's another favourite of mine..........
This is a wonderful video - in this case there is a happy ending.
But, even without a happy ending this poem speaks so well about grief.
When the realisation dawns that the one we have loved and lost will remain in our hearts - our grief changes it's nature - and a new feeling of calm acceptance occurs, IMO.
