Rest in Peace, Whitney Houston

I was sad and shocked today to hear of her passing. My daughter wanted to know who she was so I showed her a you tube  video of Whitney singing the National Anthem at Superbowl ( was it?) a few years back. My daughter appreciated Whitney's beauty and vocal talent. It is so sad how the last few years of her life were such a train wreck.

Rest in Peace Whitney.

That is indeed sad news. She had her share of problems, but she also had an incredible voice. Apparently Jennifer Hudson will sing a tribute to her at the Grammys tomorrow night.

I still remember the way she was all over Much and other music video channels/shows in the eighties and early nineties. I wasn't a big fan of her style of music, but loved her voice. She was an incredible singer and its too bad her life fell apart the way that it did. She's been trying for a comeback (just finished shooting a movie, in fact) which makes her passing all the more tragic. A few more years and maybe she'd have been back on top again, at least as an actress (I hear her pipes were pretty messed up due to the drug use so a big comeback as a singer was looking dicier).

RIP,

Mendalla

One of my favorite Whitney Houston performances is one that isn't, perhaps, as well known as her big hits. It is her recording of "I Know Him So Well" from the musical Chess, which she recorded as a duet with her mother, Cissy Houston. Someone reposted their live performance of it in HD on Youtube yesterday:

Love that song, too, sighsnootles.

One of my favorite Whitney Houston's is "I Will Always Love You."

A sad time for her family and friends and all those that loved her.

Incredible voice, and a very talented singer.  So unfortunate that some of the great ones lose their lives to drug use - Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse...

May Whitney be at peace now....no more pain.
