Okay, we had a cover songs thread that I started years ago but it's been dead since April and it's full of embedded videos which I know cause problems for some folks. I have a new favorite cover that I want to post so I'm rebooting cover songs in a new thread.
My new favorite cover: Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer" done by Mumford & Sons with Jerry Douglas. In fact, Mumford & Sons are rapidly joining the elite list of "Mendalla's favorite bands".
Anyone else heard any good covers recently?

Well I guess I'm back, if just for this and that.
I like this new band Erland and the Carnival, and they did a cover of The Trees They Do Grow High, but unfortunately it isn't on Youtube yet... I'm thinking of putting it up, once I get time to try out the new live movie maker program.

Recently I've rediscovered the voice of young Aselin Debison and one of my favourites is her version of "The Island."

Another I like that I don't think I mentioned before is John Foxx's cover of Pink Floyd's Have a Cigar. It's pretty cool.
I liked the Boxer cover.

Here's a special one, for all you folks out there, wherever you may be, you are beautiful in everything you do, words can't bring you down.

Not a cover song, but an interesting study done on pop songs...

Listening to some Melissa Etheridge last night and recalled that, while she's best known as a singer-songwriter, she's also done some good covers.
Tom Petty's "Refugee":
Springsteen's "Born to Run":
