Only tried it in my teens, maybe twice.
Would like to try again now that I'm older.

No, but the gluttony of the munchies is. I smoked it as a
teenager but had to stop because of the giggles.

Well.....that depends on what you think about taking care of your body, doesn't it? I don't know if it's a good idea to go pumping the "temple" God gave us full of chemicals.
I am so uncool.

I wouldn't think that pot would be any more of a sin than any of the jillions of other things that people consume that are considered to be bad for them.

Well, the Bible says not to get drunk, and I don't see how this is any different. It alters your reality and limits your ability to think, and that doesn't seem like something God would want us to do.
Even if it isn't a sin, you won't find me smoking. I'm not an idiot.

Not a sin, but not really the smartest of passtimes....I wouldn't do it, (of course I also have a rather severe heart condition) but I don't think that those who do are sinners...

When we boil "sin" down to behaviours, it becomes a moralism out of context. Behavioural sins are fluid and defined through discourse.
Like almost all behaviours, smoking pot can be sinful, or it can be 'blameless' - it's a matter of personal context, covenant, and relationships.

I guess I see it that we are supposed to obey our civil authorities, unless it goes directly against the Gospel. So, if smoking pot wasn't illegal, it in my view would not be a sin. However (alas) because it is illegal it is a sin. The day it becomes legal, I'm going to smoke my first joint! I had embarrasssing dull teenage years!

well, not if you have a medical prescription for it, thats for sure... ive seen patients being treated for cancer who could USE a good case of the munchies every day or so, let me tell you. and it does wonders for the spastics and pain of someone with multiple sclerosis.
personally, i don't think that its a very good thing for a healthy body to ingest... if you've ever talked to a long time habitual pot smoker you'll know what i'm talking about here... they just seem a little 'off', or 'slow', i dunno. and there is that whole 'illegal' thing...
as far as 'a sin'?? i guess it depends on what is in your heart... i'm content to let the big guy sort that one out.

Along with the "illegal" thing is the violence and exploitation that goes along with organized crime. I have a dear friend who became a pot courier in an attempt to get out of personal debt, and the stories of the fear and violence involved in distributing this "victimless" substance are harrowing.

Come on GospelCrazy, you start talking like that and I'll have to either stop drinking coffee or start paying through the nose for Ethical Coffee.
Sigh, I too have seen the affects of overuse of pot and would care not to go down that road. However, all things in moderation and it would be ok I think.

I missed the whole pot scene while playing basketball, but sure enjoyed the whole "beer" thing. Anything in excess is going to mess up your priorities...sin, no? Come to think of it...I might be out of beer...better dash out.

Anyhow, I believe using marijuana is a sin. It alters the mind and we are no longer in control of ourselves as we would be if we were straight.
