Superpowers

What superpowers would you want?
Not want?
What superpowers might be most appropriate for you as a person?
With Avengers taking over the box office and at least two other potentially massive superhero movie hits still to come this summer (The Amazing Spiderman and The Dark Knight Rises), though it might be fun to toss out the questions above. The first and third aren't necessarily the same thing. The power you desire may not necessarily be the power that is most appropriate for your personality, temperament, etc.
For me, I think I'd love to be able to fly. Doesn't matter how. Could be innate like Superman or using a cool super-powered suit like Iron Man, but to be able to fly free without an aircraft seems wonderful to me.
I wouldn't want any powers whose only real application was offense (a defensive power like a force field or Iron Man's armour would be okay). Two good examples are in the X-men: Cyclops shoots energy beams from his eyes and Wolverine has foot long metal claws that shoot out of his hands.
And I'm not sure what would be appropriate for me as a person. Maybe the ability to control computers with my mind? Would sure be handy at work.

They're working on the controlling computers with your mind. Soon anyone will be able to do that! Scarey as it requires an implant... I saw a tchnology whereby the monkey strapped into the machine in one building made the robotic arms move the same way in another building, all remotely, no wires.
I remember InannaWhimsey had this thread going at one point... or something similar, but that's ok!
Me too, I'd want to fly. Like SUperman, just shoot my fist into the air and soar like underwater.
I would not want to read minds, that would ruin relationships I think.
Appropriate for me would be, uuummmm, the ability to sway the feelings of others? Some vampires have that power.

Interesting question Mendalla!
I wouldn't want any powers whose primary or secondary application would be to hurt others. I would want powers that could be used to make the world better - for example the ability to suck up oil spills through a large straw while flying or hovering over them (hey - who doesn't want the ability to fly?).

I want to be able to read minds at will. That has always been my biggest desire for a super power. I want to know what other people are thinking and feeling with 100% certainty.

Somehow I knew what your answer would be
. I never read GL much (oddly, for a Batman fan, I mostly read Marvel in my misspent youth) but I do like the concept.
