I found this link interesting: www.google.com/ads/preferences.
Basically, if you have an account with Google, they collect information on you as you surf the internet and then use that info to target advertising towards you.
According to Google, I am an 18-24 year old male. Last time I checked, neither of those was true - although the age one is very flattering at least! LOL!

Well I'm a 45-54 year old male, and I like classical, folk and traditional music, am interested in aerospace and defence, I like on-line games, and I'm into goth subculture. Well! That was fun!
My son plays the games, not I, I like classical but I only own a few classical cd's compared to the pop/rock section. Yes I like folk, but I come from New Wave and that is the core of my musical taste. I have no idea where aerospace and defence comes from! Goth? That's funny, I only barely touch on goth. But that's intersting. I wonder what about me is so mature man-like? I guess that incorporated my husband's surfing too, but he's only 40! And he's not into aerospace and defence either!

Ha! They think I'm an 18-24 year old female (I'm actually a male in my late 40s).
They say I'm interested in...

Somegal, I am not sure that you are following google's process quite correctly.
If you are logged into google, then it will track based on your id.
If you are not logged into google then it only knows based on what you have used in that browser (IE/Firefox/Chrome) since the last time you cleared cookies.
For this reason, my work computer has very different info than my home laptop

I have opted out of the tracking process. Successfully, apparently, which is nice.

I have no ID cookie either, as least on my iPad.
Here is a funny "news story" about Google,
http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/business/all-we're-trying-to-do-is-read-your-mind%2c-says-google-201203014962/
For some reason, WC software does not think that is a hyperlink. I have noticed that the comment box allows plain text only with iPad. Anyone else noticing that?
