Worst Movie(s) Ever.

What, in your opinion is the worst movie you ever saw.
Top of my list
1) Unbreakable by M. Night Shyamalan
2) A.I. Artificial Intelligence by Steven Spielberg
3) The New World by Terrence Malick (my wife picked this one) man, what a waist of time, money and film.

Ok..
1. This crappy movie my friend found in the 88c bin at Walmart. I cant even remember the title it was so bad. It was about a shark and the opening scene thanked the actors for working with sharks without cages.
2.Cabin Fever
3.Somewhere Tomorrow. It has a teenaged Sarah Jessica Parker and the entire movie is one of those "Oh actually it was all a dream she had while she was in a coma"

I personally enjoy www.mrcranky.com He rates movies and is usually pretty accurate. Just don't look up a movie you actually like because he finds flaws in everything.

"Robot Monster," directed by the immortal Phil Tucker. It featured an alien played by a guy in a gorilla suit topped by a diving helmet. Worse even than "Plan 9 from Outer Space," an Ed Wood oeuvre, reputed to be the worst film of all time.

Wood's "Glen or Glenda" comes pretty close.

I really hated Platoon. I know, I know, everyone loves it but me. But the worst movie I've ever seen was Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. It's the only movie where I've ever actually left the theatre because I just can't take it anymore. Bad acting, bad script--bad, bad, BAD!

I loved O Brother Where Art Thou! And I also dislike Keanu Reeves' movies and REALLY dislike anything with (overrated) Nicolas Cage. Well, except Adaptation.

Apocalypse Now -- and I know there are fans out there. I would have left part-way through but was out of town and there as a guest. It was horrible. (I was also quite young then, now, if in the same circumstances, I would wait outside.)

I thought Oh Brother Where Art Thou was a great movie!! and the soundtrack has a place in my cd case in car.

Bad movies?

Howard the Duck for sure.
Driven.
SAW 1, 2, 3....and I'm sure theres more to come.
Hostel - Even more of a snuff film then some of the stuff Mel can muster! (although the Passion was great!)

CATWOMAN. that one with halle barry. a friend of mine and i used to go to bad movies and laugh our way through them, mock the actors, make up lines, that kind of thing. usually we had the whole theatre to ourselves for it.
catwoman was just so bad that we couldn't even do that. at one point, my friend looked at me and said 'my god, i think they are trying to be serious...'

DUNE, a movie from AAWWWWAAAAAY back... the one with sting in it. i loved the books, and i was really excited to see the movie. it sucked out loud.

EYES WIDE SHUT. come on, what a pointless piece of crap. stanley kubrick was actually able to make a movie with absolutely no chemistry between the leading couple, and considering that they were married in real life, that is really something. and was i the only one who saw that and thought... tom, go to the costume shop, get yourself an officers uniform, and go home!!! what a load of sh*&(^.

I wholeheartedly agree with CATWOMAN.

Seriously, what a terrible movie. But at the same time these films give me insparation as a film student. If these people can get work and get paid massive amounts of money for it, why can't I?

Also, HOSTEL. Really, who enjoys this stuff? It's not scary, its just as much gore as can be thrown at the screen. Absolutely terrible. Not the worst movie ever, because it actually at least had production values.

... The same can't be said about Catwoman, though.

Catwoman
High School Musical
Serendipity
Material Girls --that sharty one with the Duff sisters. ALL of the actors are bad in that. It was so bad i couldn't even make fun of it.

OH. and any other romantic comedy involving Jennifer Aniston.

The only romantic comedy i think i liked was Elizabethtown.

hah! I posted this in the Best Movies Ever dg by mistake! Imagine what those people reading this there must be thinking!

I know this is dating me, but without a shadow of a doubt, in my mind, Shakes the Clown (starring Bobcat Goldthwait) from the late 80's is BY FAR THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE, AND WILL EVER BE MADE!!! Seriously, my friends and I would go to other bad movies after that, ones like Born in East L,A., with Cheech Marin, and we'd always say to each other, "Well, at least it wasn't as bad as Shakes the Clown." And we'd be right, by a long shot. Don't beleive me? I won't recommend you watching it, because you would feel incredibly bad that you had wasted 2 hours of your life on your couch, and then I'd feel bad too. So take my word for it, ok?!

Btw, O Brother Where Art Thou is one of the best movies ever made, and Apocalypse Now is a classic as well.

There aas a masterpiece called Frogs. There was a lake where the frogs suddenly mulutiplied. It was modelled on Birds. People were terrified, huddled in a house. suddendly, screams as a door splinters. cut to a body lying on the floor with a frog sitting on him and saying ribbit.

I wondered. Did the frogs kick in the door. And how did they kill those people?

They don't make movies like that nay more.

Worst worst movies:
1. There was some movie Prince made that I went to see back in the '80's - something about a "Cherry Moon"??. Can't believe I actually paid money to see it. Highly forgettable. Best part of the evening was my friend hitting a parkade barricade with her car on the way to the theater.
2. "Julia and Julia" - One word: HUH? Kathleen Turner and Sting. I won free tickets to that one. All I need to regret spending is the two hours I was at the theater.

Best worst movie: "They Saved Hitler's Brain". Two really bad partial films spliced together to make one really appalling movie. Watched it at midnight at a B-movie festival. Several talented hecklers in the crowd. A highly enjoyable experience.

My husband and I just watched the worst movie ever made! It was called Shadowboxer. Talk about twisted... You never want to see a Cuba Gooding Jr. movie at the best of times, but we thought we would give it a shot as it was the only "new" movie in the store on a Saturday night. Ugh what a waste.

Also I remember thinking The Dark Crystal was a good movie back in the day and well, we watched it again not too long ago... Lets just say I am very happy we have improved in our special effects technology!

I have to agree that Oh Brother Where Art Thou is a very good movie.

I"d have to say "You and Me and Everyone We Know". It is an indy film, which normally I like, but that one was particularily bad. "Kinsey" was right up there also. Yep i am an alternative movie buff and I guess you really do take your chances when you go to them. I've seen lots of good ones that way also though.

Well the list of all time worst movies could go on and on, Hollywood keeps adding to the list! This weekend was the double feature from h-e double hockey sticks! Fist we watched Step Up. I described the plot line to my daughter in the first 30 seconds of the movie. I was right on the money.

Second up was My Super Ex Girlfriend. Not often do I give up on a movie, usually I need to know how it turns out, this one however, I got up and went to bed.

I received Clockwork Orange from my brother for Christmas. I had never seen it and we all sat down to watch it on boxing day. Of the five people watching it, I was the only one who liked it. The others named it as their all time worst movie.

Eye of the beholder and all that....

"They Saved Hitler's Brain"

One of a series of classic "brain" movies. Try "The Brain from Planet Arous" or "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" for some real yuks.

You guys are missing out on the really worst pictures in history by focusing on mainstream big budget releases. There is a whole wealth of movies made on a budget that wouldn't buy a good box lunch that are so astonishingly bad that you wonder why anyone made them in the first place.

I'm talking about the great directors of bad moviedom - Ed Wood, Phil Tucker, William "One Shot" Beaudine (so called because he did everything in one take, no matter what happened).

If you can locate a copy of "The Golden Turkey Awards," you're in for a treat. A survey of some of the most appallingly bad films of all time.

I have seen to many bad movies in my short 18 years of life. Ummm Platoon would be one, Chicago, The Cave, or the Descent, the Candy Man, Romancing the Stone, Kill Bill (1 and 2, they were terrible movies but i'd watch them again just to laugh at how terrible they are.), The animated version of Lord of the Rings, Passion of the christ wasn't all that great, Star wars episodes 1,2,3 (the original trilogy with Han solo and Luke Skywalker was awesome)

Some movies that people ahted that i thought were good incloude, snakes on a plane, superman 4, and others that i can't remember at the moment.

oh and Oh Brother Where art thou is hilariouse.

What about the Rocky series? I can't believe there's a new one out.
BTW O Brother Where Art Thou - excellent movie. The song 'Down by the River to Pray' in that movie has been adapted to a choir anthem (though it's known as Down by the Valley to Pray' (great harmony)

"If they were were so terrible why did you watch the bloody things anyway???"

There is a certain fascination in watching the cinematic equivalent of train wrecks. You might ba amazed to know how many bad movie buffs there are out there. These people (I am one) actually seek out the worst movies and watch them them ON PURPOSE, sometimes more than once.

I forget the name of the movie, but there was one that opened years ago and did terribly at the box office. Then, one theater manager hit on the idea of posting "Worst Movie of the Year!" on his marquee and cleaned up when all the bad movie freaks came out from under their rocks to see what was so awful about it.

You guys have missed the worst movie of all time. "Repo-Man" - a story about a guy driving around with a dead alien in his trunk. While it has its moments (like when a kid walks in to his parents home and asks - hey mom and dad, can I have some food? - and they say - yeah - its in the fridge - and he goes to the fridge, opens it, and it is full of cans and bottles and bags, all labeled "food".
The whole movie is shot slightly out of focus, and it goes on, and on and on and on. I went to see it while at university to the $2 show with a gang of other students. During the movie, one by one, all but two of us got up and left. The last two, when pressed for an explanation for why they stayed said "We kept waiting for it to get better - but it never did."
I'd add to this a Woody Allen movie called -hmm - something like 'Everything you wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask" - ah heck, there are a number of plain bad Woody Allen movies.
I agree on Mel Gibsons "Passion" as well. Poor theology, and the choices he made in the story line and screenplay are meant to shock/scare/scandalize you, and provoke a religious response. My response to it was to decide Mel is seriously messed up.
Lately I hated "Wedding Crashers" and a number of other movies of this genre - crotch grabbing, rude, crude, sexist, and just so stupid as to be offensive.

I saw A Clockwork Orange when I was 17 and in Grade 13 - 100 years ago. It terrified me then (I was far too young to see it) and it still frightens me when I remember scenes from it. I thought it was terrible.

Let's establish some ground rules here. In my opinion, as a seasoned veteran of more dreck than most of you young uns can imagine (who can forget "Teenage Zombies"?), I think that the real cheapies are not as bad as the terrible movies made by people who should KNOW better. So, for example, "Bram Stoker's Dracula" by no less than Francis Ford Coppola is way up my list as a giant hunk of crap. I usually like M. Night Shyamalan, BUT "Lady in the Water" was sooooo bad, I was speechless. From an earlier era, if anyone is a fan of the great Italian director, Michaelangelo Antonioni, then check out "Zabriskie Point." Yikes.

So who accepts the challenge? Who can name the worst by the best?

What about those contrived, untrue, misleading, lovey-dovey, naive, sentimental and crassly fantastical things about the penguins (which, incidentally, are dying in droves, probably because of climate change... but possibly because of embarrassment).

When Hollywood gets its hands on real life, how come it doesn't have a clue where to start or how to front up to what actually happens. This is either stuff like (Arrgh!!) Jaws - which put people off swiming and made sharks the target of brain-dead predation by people who should have known better, or Disneyland romantacies about bambis and bunnies and (now) penguins telling townies everything is sweet - and the whole industry totally sucks. I have yet to see a good nature film.

I have come to especially loathe and detest "CUTE". It seems to be giving giving the world a Plan A to ensure global ruin.

BShater's picture

Okay, now attacking the "cute" fantasy movies is hitting below the belt. I love Bambi, Winnie the Pooh, Babe, and the best was The Penguins.
If we can't have a little fantasy in our lives or imagination, we are a sorry lot inded.
Just my opinion of course

Oh, I forgot to add the last Star Wars movie. I am not a SW fan, I admit, but a good movie is a good movie, regardless. THAT was SO bad my jaw was in my lap. I loved the spoof on it on the "Air Farce." The entitled it "Star Wars VI: A Piece of Sith."

I second CandyMan- what a waste of time. Of course the Worst worst movie I've ever seen was 2001: a Space Odessy. How did they manage to turn a movie about a killer computer into something that could put you into a coma? Of course, I believe that bad movies can be very entertaining. The best worst movie I've seen is Reefer Madness. (Apparently smoking marijauna makes you homicidal..) Some other crap-coverd gems include Santa Claus VS the Martians and From Dusk Till Dawn (all three movies in the series).
That being said I would never(NEVER) pay to see anything with the Duff sisters in it. I watched Material Girls with my friend after her breakup and almost poked my eyes out it was so bad.
