I just received word from Maritime Conference that Emma Lee Stewart has died.
Emma Lee lead the music program for Martime Conference in the spring. She wrote and lead the theme song "From Now On". I can see her on the stage now, her bright smile, her arms up, the tails from her head scarf waving as she turned from the choir to the floor and lead us all in singing "From now on".
I saw her in the cafeteria and congratulated her on her singing. And I noticed that her head covering was not just for style. And she hugged me as I cried, for I understood what she had accepted: for her there was just the present. There wouldn't be a 'from now on'. But such joy, such faith, such enthusiam for life and the life of the church in the world.
I am heart broken.

I am sorry to hear about this Seeler. I remember you writing about your encounter with her at conference and how meaningful it was for you.
The story is really hitting home for me right now as I know of two people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer in the past couple of weeks.
My prayers are with all cancer victims and their families.
