Imaginary Friends

It is now 3:30am here in Regina. I lay awake for a while wondering about who I should vote for in the upcoming civic election.

Imagination seems to be running wild although nobody seems to admit to it.

I have just googled "imaginary friends" in an attempt to get further insight into the situation and I find my mind drifting away from politicians into Grim's Fairy Tale characters.

I just covered what Wikipedia has to say about imaginary friends. Now I have googled "Little Red Riding Hood" in order to let Grimm Brothers give me an example of wolves in sheeps' clothing which, it seems to me, ties in somehow.

Namaste and Musical MacKenzie from here at WonderCafe are also on my mind.

Pie in the sky in the form of a new stadium seems to be on most everyone's mind. Not much thought goes into anything else.

However, I would prefer to keep this thread focused on how we use our imagination to run with the herd and tend to allow ourselves to be led astray rather than the merits of a new stadium.

We have already discussed replacing the stadium here at WonderCafe.

you know , namen, that is not just politics, running with the herd. It is church also, don't you think?

I think running with the herd is easy - it takes imagination to be at the head of the pack (or running down a different path all together).

Actually, I think that the old stadium is due for replacement. But we seem to have created two polarized herds stampeding in oppositional directions.  Seems to me that we need more long term planning relating to the stadium and many other issues.

Are those running in the election  real friends or is it all in the imagination?  I am afraid that we might elect the big bad wolf. Do we vote for pie in the sky or reality?  The way things are now I am afraid that I do not know the difference.

Yes CrazyHeart. Mitt Romney being a prime example, excelling in both as the alpha wolf.

Sh...sh...you mentioned Namaste and M. Mac K.  I googled and there are lots of threads in Google. I didn't realize what a horror show  that was until I was reading it now. My husband was in pallative care at home so I was busy. I did have some long rants at the end of a post, too long!

if we could look below the bottom level of our screens at Willard and Obama, we'd see that these two are used by the same puppeteer of Frank Oz and co...Willard is based on Sam the Eagle and Obama is based on Rowlf the Dog...

this shows the powerful effects that editing can have

have fun with your brain

Well today is the day I vote. The ballot will be for a mayor, city councillor for this ward and for a school trustee. I have faith in the candidates I have chosen for mayor and councillor. I will abstain from voting for a school trustee because I have not studied the issues and candidates.

Today, I will also be taking the vacuum cleaner we bought 9 months ago back to the dealer because it is  no longer performing properly.

I am thinking about the differences and similarities betwen buying a product and voting for a politician all the while hoping for satisfaction. We are easily deceived, but sometimes we are satisfied. I guess we can even be deceived and satisfied at the same time.
