Ready for a boring story? Ok...
The First of March -- I'm in High School when I see this pretty Sophomore a new student. ,,,
Sadie Hawkings Day. (Anyone remember Lil Abner?) The day when girls invite boys to the school dance.
This pretty newcomer invites me!
The dance was great...soon we were 'going steady' ...
Then it was for me a couple of years of college, she finishing highschool...We dated on weekends...then I go to work, she goes to college for two years we write letters...
Then we got married...
...and still are. 63 years later.
I have two grown daughters whom I love, a 35 year old grandson I'm proud of
and NOW: The Secret of a happy marrage:
I have no idea,

Hi HG:
What's "Maragge"?
The bagagge of marriage?
For me, this year it'll 50 years of marriage to my teenage sweetheart, 55 years from when our relationship started.
The secret to a long and happy marriage?
Apart from abiding love it would be loyalty—on both sides. And commitment, equality, and responsibility.

Congratulations Happy Genius - you both must have done some things right these past 63 years - and you both must have extended one another an amount of grace when you didn't do things right .

Arnminius - 50 this year . . . along with the things you listed as secrets to a long and happy marriage you both also must have been gracious to one another along the way .
Well done, both Mr. & Mrs. Arminius and Mr. & Mrs. Happy Genius - your examples are bright stars at this time in our world where commitment, loyalty, perseverance, and continuing love are not as commonplace as it once was.

Wow, congratulations HG! 63 years -- that's amazing! If my wife and I make it that long I will be 107 years old. I hope you had a wonderful anniversary. All the best for the future. God bless you both.

Happy Genius,
Ready for a boring story? Ok...
Boring?
Really?
That is one of the most beautiful stories shared on WonderCafe.ca.
If only the world could enjoy more "boring" stories like that.
Grace and peace to you and your bride.

That's no boring story HG. Wow, how nice for both of you couples, Arminius too, to have married your teen sweetharts. I wonder if there have been any studies to show that earlier marriages last longer? I married at 23, and I'm glad we have so much history together. If I married at 35, my husband wouldn't know nearly as much about my life, nearly as well.
Thanks for the secrets.

Thanks Elanorgold.
What is of especially precious to us in our old age is that we grew up in neighbouring villages. I intimately know her village, her family and her area, and she knows mine. Thus, we have a lot of common history to reminisce, going right back to our childhoods.
We just talked about a particular deciduous forest that we both knew, which was awash with snowdrops in early spring, and white annemones later, just before the trees burst into leaf.

I did not meet my wife as a youngster or as a young person, thank goodness. She would have fled as fast as she could, rightfully so. I had growing up to do and healing that needed to happen and learn to let love in and let love out.
I did dream of a woman like her my whole life though.
13 years ago my dreams came true.
