To get the picture to fit the screen there are two things you must do.  First right click on the picture, select image properties, set the width to 400 (this is the width of the WC's post area).  Then scroll down to where it says "Input format" and select "Full HTML"  You must do both.  To check to see if it worked, press "Preview" before you "save"

I think some of them are up there just because they were more recent.  For example, I would put What people think I do up at least a few spots.  Maybe it's just my age group?  I've probably seen at least 50 of them!  I've seen the Ehmagerd one a few times, but I didn't know it was that popular and I know people who loved goosebumps, but it really wasn't on my FB newsfeed.

I think the eagle picking up the toddler would have been on the last if it were a bit older.

Chemgal, you are absolutely right.  Glad I put it as a question, a video can be a meme..  I had only heard of meme's in terms of the static image.  Looking up the definition, it appears that I was misunderstanding the usage of the term.   Another thing that I learned on wondercafe this week.

This is a great thread but I still haven't figured out how to post photos or memes on this site. 

I wanted to share one from my FB page this morning.  It showed a white page bordered with black.  Along the bottom border in white print was the word Procrastination.

That was it - use your imagination! 

I think the original meaning of meme is anything that catches popular attention in a way that changes or influences culture. But most people are using it to mean these kind of images with a message that are being shared via social media.

Kaythecurler, I believe images shared on WonderCafe must be openly available on the Internet. Facebook images are generally private in some way and not able to be linked to. (That's what I think anyway, I could be wrong!)

Chansen, so, a youtube video can contain an idea, behaviour or style, it could present a meme, as could a static image.

I'm not sure that the video of a toddler being picked up by an eagle is an "idea, behaviour or style", though maybe it is an idea that eagles are dangerous-- which was truly a hoax.    Thoughts?

Pinga, it's like the #1 meme for 2012 - Gagnam style.  The video itself wasn't the meme, but rather everything that came along with it.  Similar things have been going on with the eagle video, although it's still a little early.

Most of what is posted on the thread isn't what most people (from my understanding anyway) would consider to be internet memes, Pilgrim's was.  The words about thinkingI had posted were, but I took it out of the meme context to simplify the posting.  There was the photoshopped meme a while ago that spread across many forums, it went something like this:

That photo is shopped.  I can tell based on the shadows, the pixels plus I've just seen quite a few shops in my time.

A more recent one would be all the Ryan Gosling Hey Girl pics.  I would have put it in the list for 2012, but I think it started before then, although they are still going around!

The actual definition is much more general, but I think it's fair that most people think of these types of internet memes when using the definition of meme.
