Jobam, I'm having a similar one to you. I went out and grabbed a movie already and chemguy and I need to start prepping the food for a fondue soon. After being around our families for Christmas we enjoy celebrating NYE just the 2 of us with cheese and chocolate!
Have fun Tabitha! Hopefully it's fairly warm out tonight.

We're heading out locally - Chuck Jackson (from Downchild Blues Band) hosts a great Blues Year Eve party - a bit of food & terrific live music from a variety of blues musicians. Cash bar. Mostly a 'responsibly aged crowd' - i.e. nobody getting falling down sloppy drunk! Lots of dancing and fun. We're going with our longtime friends and there will also be lots of other folks there from our neighbourhood.

lots of good plans
Somegal-You are moving again?
as for weather- Remember that I'm quite hardy and have great outdoor clothes
it may get down to -7 or so tonight
I think it was -25 or so in Inuvik when we gathered (with preschoolers) on the frozen river with a bonfire of Xmas trees and fireworks to celebrate the return of the sun

Sitting quietly with the guys tonight. Appetizers purchased ready to keep being presented for nibbling, Not too much of aything. Just enough to hold until the next set comes out.
Carolla, sounds like a blast, as does Tabitha's. People were reming me of the New Years Eve parties we used to hold which were intergenerational. Maybe another year.

Yup Tabitha - my current place was only ever temporary. I got a good start on the move tonight and will have no problems finishing tomorrow.
The party was lots of fun - and some of my new neighbours even set off fireworks! Tomorrow morning I'm off, with a friend, to the New Years Levee at the home of the Lieutenant Governor, before continuuing my move (with the help of that same friend).

Somegal I hope everything with the move goes well!
Tabitha, I think you were in the wrong city last night! It was around 0 here and it warmed up as it approached midnight.
Carolla, that sounds like fun! I used to go to a blues bar fairly regularly, but it's been a while.

i slept then got a wonderful phone call from my wife at 3 am :3
this New Year's Eve i made a list of four deities who i would like to have a presence in my life in 2013 then dwelt on them as i fell asleep (related note: lucid dreaming can be a kind of VR where one can try out ideas etc safely...)
they are:
Guanyin whose portfolio is compassion and kindness
Okezie whose portfolio is hard work and excellence
mercury/hermes, whose portfolio includes healing, magic, communication, language
Hilaritas whose portfolio is good humour
Jan 1st was special because nature shew'd me spider webs encased in ice which I have never seen or heard of before.
lastly, a word from Joseph Campbell
