This morning, while judiciously avoiding real work, I read this link forwarded by a friend with a quirky sense of humour.
So, Tennessee apparently has ruled that teachers may not exhibit behaviour that is believed to be a "gateway to sexual activity" (aka evil sin, unless you're married and want to have babies). It makes one wonder how grace/orayer, youth group rallies, and comforting a friend in pain don't all devolve into rampant sexual orgies.
I realize that I may just be a tad jaded today but what do you think?

I have been watching the American GOP kerfuffle.
The religious nuts are out there shining with all their brilliance......
I am really worried for my American neighbours ...... there is quite a divide growing there.
I am looking to the upcoming presidential election to get a sense of where they are at.
This stuff is creeping across our border as well and we do need to be aware of it.
As soon as I see family, values, or marriage anywhere in a political name I am on alert.
I have watched as these nut groups that wield political influence arm wrestle and bully candidates into signing these so called pledges. If you don't sign ... oh my! ... now you are the enemy!
We do love our enemies don't we ......
Cynical here today as well I suppose .... and scared......
Regards
Rita

Hi DaisyJane,
I realize that I may just be a tad jaded today but what do you think?
With time I am becoming more disciplined. I can hold hands now without it triggering anything even remotely sexual.
There was a time though. When I was 18. Where the gateway was much less than holding hands. My engine would start revving the minute opposite gender showed up.
That said, it appears that the Tennessee Senate needs some more work to do.
But then, while I was typing out Tennessee, I wondered if they might have a point. Look what happens to all those letters when you let them sit that close together. They multiply like rabbits!
Grace and peace to you.
John

There must be many kids on leashes in Tennessee, since parents wouldn't want to be seen holding their child's hand when crossing the street.
Have they banned blinking? It could be used to attract sexual attention if someone dared to bat their eyes.

Now come on, what do they hope to accomplish?
I mean if a big ol'chew with brown dribble don't even slow down the urge for french kissing, this ain't got much hope.
What is next ---- banning family reunions?

Hi SG,

Well don't that bring back chunky memories of breakfast. And heck, it kills all desire at the same time. Two birds with one stone.
What is next ---- banning family reunions?
Maybe that should have been first.
Grace and peace to you.

Having been a teenage boy at one time, I can assure them that breathing is a gateway to sexual activity.

Why don't we just take a lesson out of "The Giver" by Lois Lowry? We'll give the kids pills to eliminate all sexual desire when they reach puberty. We don't have to go as far as they did in the book and never allow sexual desire, though. We could just let them stop taking the pills when they get married.

Hmmm. So my company supplies oxygen to help people breath. Does that mean we're in the sex trade?

I thought math made everyone horny as hell. Trigonometry was so hot it hurt. And creationism! I hope they don't try teaching creationism in Tennesse — athat's a gateway activity if ever there was one — there'd be orgies in the classroom at the mention of Genesis… just say if five times slowly and see if you're not turned on!!

Well, if you don't believe in teaching your teens about condoms, birth control, imtimacy with self-respect....I guess you have no choice to monitor every other little thing that pops up! NOTE to the boyos...little is just a term of endearment in this case.

there is a good reason for this ruling, as this piccy of a teacher in Tennis shows (the artist is now in an asylum)
