Greetings!
Crazyheart started a topic about our avatars and a lot of Wondercafers expressed what theirs meant to them or what they stood for. I was wondering . . . what about our user names? Well, Beloved is pretty self-explanatory . . . I am God's beloved - loved by God. But there are some others out there, that I have to admit, have got my curiousity peaked . . . How about it . . . does anyone want to share the meaning of their user name and/or why they chose it?
Hope, peace, joy, love . . .

CrazyHeart - It has become my alter ego. Different than me in a lot of ways but still, I hope, basic ly who I am. A person with a big heart who at times is kind of Crazy - (does a little Crazy Dance for Beloved - Darn that Monk, it just sticks in my head).

Yah, Hi,
My username means petal, like a petal from a flower. I chose it because i imagined a petal that falls off of a rose, and for some reason thought of myself as being that petal. Its kindda like when we detach from the body of Christ. Not that its got anything to do with me, I do intend to remain attached, but yah! It was just a personified perspective of the scenario.

I play the bass, hence the double "s"
I am a chemical engineer, and my posts can sometimes be caustic.
I am an Emerging Spirit zealot; I picture myself as John the Baptist covered in animal skins, eating loctus, and ranting in the UCC wllderness crying for change. The "basic" part of that is I don't put a lot of academic thought into my posts. I am not well read on the topic of church leadership (other than the ES site...) and change management theory, but I have a real world story of it to share.

"Namaste" is a term used in yoga. It pretty much means "The spirit in me salutes the spirit in you." It's also a posture in which we bow to each other, humbling ourselves. It's a way of acknowledging that we are all equals- no one is greater than another.
LBmuskoka
Posted on: 10/24/2008 19:10
LB is me, it is my name and Muskoka well self explanatory on the obvious home front but to many, myself included, Muskoka is also a state of mind.
According to Wikipedia and an uncited source The name Muskoka is thought to come from the name of a Chippawa tribe chief named Mesqua Ukee which means "not easily turned back in the day of battle".
Which even if it isn't true, I'm adopting

My screen name comes from Hebrews 12:29; "For our God is a consuming fire"
I really like the imagery it creates, especially when I read 1 Kings18 when Elijah battled the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel.
My screen name also says a lot about me as well. I often speak my mind and can get quite fired up fairly easily. And, when I am drumming or performing I often get a HUGE adrenaline rush. It feels really cool, but I get all hot and feel like I am on fire.
somegirl
Posted on: 10/24/2008 23:26
My user name came about when I was looking for one to use on online games. I wanted people to know that they were being shot or beat by a girl, the rare time I shot or beat one of them. I started with chemgal, as I was a chemist when I started gaming. By the time I got to this forum I settled on somegirl. I like it because it is really anonomous. Unfortunately, people think that I'm younger than I am because of the "girl". I also have a male persona on my games: Jacksplat.

Serena
Posted on: 10/25/2008 15:33
Serena is my middle name and it is more anonymous for the Internet. My username on the political webforums is/was Vicki.
I also like the Serena because Serena was that slightly trouble making witch on Bewitched so I think it kinda suits me.

seeler
Posted on: 10/26/2008 06:55
Seeler is a typo. I meant to be Seeker, as in one who seeks knowledge, wisdom, truth. However, when people started responding to me as Seeler, I started thinking of myself as Seeler - rather a unique name don't you think?
I know I could have changed it early on. But I believe that there is a Seeker now who posts once in awhile so I'll just remain Seeler until something happens that I really feel I need another name - and then it will be something entirely diffferent.

I am not at all creative when it comes to choosing screen names. I used my initials because my first name was taken.
Ariel
Posted on: 10/26/2008 15:06
I got Ariel from the name of The Little Mermaid - Disney Version. The character seemed to have some of my personality. She was spirited and independent. She meant well in her choices, but went to the wrong source to fulfill them. At the end, she returns to her Father, and he gives her all of her heart's desire. She should have just gone to him in the first place. Anyway, all this to say, I see her as a "prodigal daughter", and that is who I am.

GadZooks
Posted on: 10/28/2008 16:01
My nick, GadZooks, is an old-timey expletive which really means "God's Hooks" - otherwise known as the nails which were used to hang Christ to the cross.
I guess I use the nick to remind myself that I am the reason the Christ suffered on the tree - I am those "hooks", so I should be sure to think of Christ whenever I am tempted.
But moreover, it was just better than my old nick, which was waSte. I was a waste, and now I am God's Hooks.

Trishcuit for Trish. When I was about 20 somebody wittingly dubbed me it and it has come back to haunt me, haha. Good thing I am a cracker lover. The olive oil and black pepper triscuits are particularly tasty.

Elanor is the little golden flower that grows in the heart of Lothlorien, the mythical wood in Lord Of The Rings where Galadriel, queen of the elvenfolk lives. It is one of my favorite things about said book.

Google: The Omnissiah, Warhammer 40,000, Adeptus Mechanicus....

Nothing Biblical here, only a huge fan of the green and white football team.Riderguy because i enjoy watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders play football in the CFL. Saskatchewan is the smallest team, smallest market, but still competes with bigger teams. They have a true loyal fanbase all across this country, they actually never "sell out "a game, because if you travel hours to see a game, they feel that you should be able to see it. The stadium seats about 30,000 and they have had crowds of about 40,000 for games. I love the struggle they keep fighting and they were the first team I remember watching in the 1970's.

Posted on: 11/16/2008 22:14
Hi Everyone,
Neat discussion. Thanks Beloved for starting it. My username is pronounced Ruah
My username came to me from listening to Rob Bell, who I find to a very engaging speaker and has some interesting thoughts on religion and our daily lives. In his Nooma series of DVD's one of the set deals with Breathing, and how the word for "Breath" can also be translated to "Spirit".
I believe that when praying, however one chooses to do so, it's important to relax, and take deep breaths in order to feel the precense of the Holy Spirit.
Thanks

A jubilee in the Bible is a year of rest to be observed by the Israelites every 50th year, during which slaves were to be set free and alienated property was to be restored to the former owners.
I chose -jubilee- as a name because of my belief that all people who are slaves to sin can be set free by Jesus. I believe that although we are born alienated from God, we can all be restored to him.
-jubilee- is also a name I like because it sounds bright, optimistic, celebratory, and fun. I like that, even as I know I want to become more like that on a daily basis.
Finally, I must admit I chose the name -jubilee- because of I like the science-fiction and comic book genres, and Jubilee was a much loved character from the X-Men.

it has been used out of context on this forum many times. my favourite is moms-a-fruitcake or sometimes just plain "fruitcake" *lol*

Just thought I would be transparent about the name change with you all.

Hi MC jae:
So you've gone from Master of Ceremonies to Deacon?
Is that a promotion?

Congrats, Deacon. Good luck and God bless in your new role.
And wow, this is one ancient thread in WC terms. And I think it wasn't the only one of its type. I'm sure I explained my username at one point but it isn't on this thread so there must be another usernames thread floating around.
