Another baby coming?

I wonder if there is another man like Jesus who has come or will come to show us the way of the Kingdom? Or is there only one. On another night will we be waiting for the birth of a baby with all the folklore, myth and metaphor that goes with it?

Just wondering what folk think?

Maybe it will be the world's first 'free-willed' computer?

Or the world's first wholly designed life form?

Or a missionary from another world/dimension, knowing an Earther in the Biblical sense, and...oh, wait, that already happened in Genesis ;3

Maybe someone like Dawkins is the new Christ (or Voltaire), G_d, having already taught us to love one another and never stop, moving on to other things...

Does the world really need another Superman*?

* cool article:  amino acids, building blocks of life, in meteorite!

Why do you think it has to be another baby born Crazyheart? Could not the Christ Consciousness begin to overshadow people on a much broader scale? Everyone, Muslim, Christian, Jew and Atheist would and could then experience the Christ in a much more real way and inner way that few could deny.

I read once that we should not expect the Christ to teach us like He did before, but rather, this time He will give us experiences where we will see the truth wihin. This is the most effective and assured way of teaching.

I don't think so.

I think Neo has it, but when.

When we finally realize we have destroyed our future by destroying the planet?

When tha last person turns out the last light?

Or are we bright enough to realize we have to work together.  There are no passengers on planet Earth, we are ALL crew.  Either we work together or perish.

Then we will have the Kin-dom, here!

the world is so very big, there are many.  But I don't think there will ever be one person that the whole world rallies around, until maybe our world is just one of many.  Heck, its only Christmas for Christians, so really, did we ever "all" wait for the babe?

I kinda like all babies.  "Every child born is a new thought of God; an ever-fresh and radiant possibility."

At least, there seems to be a cumulative effect for some folks learning about Jesus and all those game-changers who came before & after.  We have civilizations that work towards equality, health care, education, ending poverty etc...  despite our human disasters, some good has certainly come from reflection & compassion.

It's happening now RussP. The voice of the people will change everything. Not sure exactly how or exactly when but that voice is demanding a new world. And it's been going for years. Within our peace rallies, and the demand for human rights, and the need for peaceful international relationships, this voice is getting louder.

This cry for change has been going on for centuries. But only now are these forces of materialism coming to an end. These are the forces of attachments that work against nature. They are the involutionary forces as opposed to the evolutionary forces. But now their time is coming to an end, a great cycle is ending. For thousands of year's we've seen this repression, but now the 'old world' is passing away before our very eyes.

We're living in a twilight time between the old and the new. Our future, I believe, is very, very good. With a new kingdom comes a new heaven. Everything's going to be taken up a notch.

Our current economic environment, however, is being propped up with sticks. There are still too many who are stuck on the status-quo of keeping things just they way they are, the 'I'm alright Jack" attitude. But time is against them. I don't think we're likely to pull out of this current economic "downturn". A new world is beginning before our very eyes and is resulting in the ending of the old world, the one where the rich stay rich and the poor become poorer. "May you live in interesting times" is today's curse. We are witnessing a change so big it'll truly seem like a new world.

Until we convince our politicians and the world leaders that sharing the resources of the world is our "only" hope, then we are all doomed. The starvation and poverty of millions upon millions is a crime against nature and has to stop before anything can get better. If the majority of the world only knew how easy it would be to stop all wars, all starvation and even pollution then in a very short time we would notice a much more peaceful world.

Eventually, once war and starvation are banned forever, there will be no need for passports anymore, our energy crises would be replaced everywhere with a fanstastic "science of light". Once we begin to manage this world as "one world" and not a sectarian division of self-interests then all of problems will work out naturally. It work our naturally because that is exactly what would be doing, working with nature as one.

Working against nature causes suffering, working with nature creates peace.

Here's a suggestion: Let's adopt, in a measure of good faith and respect for everyone, a new calendar for everyone. One where just the full moons of each month are celebrated as holidays. A calendar everyone could agree with. The Christians would still have Easter and the Buddhist would still have Wesak, the Buddha's birthday. The first full moons of spring would be the most important, but the other 9 full moons would also serve as teaching aids.

Here's another suggestion: Let's get all the Palestinian Muslims and the Jewish Israelis to each the same food! That would be interesting.

Cheers.

PS, .. congratulations Crazyheart!

On a more serious note, Neo, that is so intriquing and Birthstone and Russ, isn't it nice to have conversation in the cafe?

I agree with Neo: it's happening right now. A groundswell of change of consciousness is already underway, and will soon sweep our planet like a tidal wave.

This, I think, is the coming of the Maitreya, the Scond Coming of Christ, the Coming of the Madhi (the faith renewer of Islam) and other faith renewals and renewers. Although some people may be at the forefront of the movement, it will be a planetary movement involving all people.

A wave, eh?

I happen to enjoy the following, and by the numbers, this is where the wave is going, but I realize I'm biased:

"Lyrics":
Russell:
When you are studying any matter
Or considering any philosophy
Ask yourself only: what are the facts,
And what is the truth that the facts bear out

Sagan:
Science is more than a body of knowledge
It's a way of thinking
A way of skeptically interrogating the universe

If we are not able to ask skeptical questions
To be skeptical of those in authority
Then we're up for grabs

Shermer:
In all of science we're looking for a balance
between data and theory

Harris:
You don't have to delude yourself
With Iron age fairy tales

Porco:
The same spiritual fulfillment
That people find in religion
Can be found in science
By coming to know, if you will, the mind of God

Krauss:
The real world, as it actually is,
Is not evil, it's remarkable
And the way to understand the physical world
is to use science

Dawkins:
There is a new wave of reason
Sweeping across America, Britain, Europe, Australia
South America, the Middle East and Africa
There is a new wave of reason
Where superstition had a firm hold

Plait:
Teach a man to reason
And he'll think for a lifetime

Sagan:
Cosmology brings us face to face with the deepest mysteries
With questions that were once treated only
in religion and myth

The desire to be connected with the cosmos
Reflects a profound reality
But we are connected; not in the trivial ways
That Astrology promises, but in the deepest ways

Feynman:
I can't believe the special stories that have been made up
About our relationship to the universe at large
Look at what's out there; it isn't in proportion

Russell:
Never let yourself be diverted
By what you wish to believe
But look only and surely
At what are the facts

Randi:
Enjoy the fantasy, the fun, the stories
But make sure that there's a clear sharp line
Drawn on the floor
To do otherwise is to embrace madness

O yes, chansen, the Wave of Reason is a crucial part of that wave, but the Wave of Reason is complemented by the Wave of Intuition. The two together, that's what makes it a tidal wave!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cool vid Chansen. Science will be the force that'll bring religion back to reason. And once science discovers that life does indeed persist on levels above the solids, liquids and gases that we know, then through humility science may have to rethink it's views on God.

This indeed would be like the birth of a new age. Maybe a new scientific religion, based on facts and spiritual realities will be seen one day. I'm sure that it wouldn't be called a religion however. I think that term has had its day and done enough damage to the common sense of the blind masses.

Good job, chansen; that's a good series :3

Carl Sagan knew of the importance of religion, that it "...provides some essential meat..."  (not that its claims are true, but that religion serves important functions for humankind).  And he could say that because, even though he say some really stupid dogmatic things in his life (we all do), he was a real scientist...

He is missed.

Crazyheart - I don't know who first said it but I have heard 'no one stands outside a room in a maternity ward, much less a shelter in a refugee camp, waiting for a great person to be born.

Today, around the world there are babies being born.  And who knows - we will have to wait 30 years or more to find out - is one of them the Messiah, the annointed one - the one who brings new light, new hope, new understanding into the world?  And will we recognize her?  Will we know?   Or many years later will be wonder - was she special from the moment of her birth, or even before?

I know if told it before but it really touched my heart.  My grandson was hardly more than a toddler himself, but he was playing the part of a shepherd in a short Christmas drama at the beginning of the worship service.  There was a baptism that day.  At one point I whispered to grandson:  "Can you see the baby?"

He nodded his head, and whispered in awe:  "That's Jesus."    I agreed.  Yes, there is a part of Jesus in every baby born.

Ahhh - Chansen, that was great, something for drawing people together & making the world better...

Oh Neo...  I am more skeptical than you of things improving.  In small ways, people improve the world for one another, and in large ways humanity is evolving in some wonderful ways.  Our awareness of connection between all people/all creatures/all creation has brought some good change.  Our efforts for compassionate living and meaning show signs of life; but I see equal disdain for relationship; personal gain trumping compassion & action; corrupt systems that swallow change.

I see babies change people completely, who often settle right back into old patterns when the clutter of life & living swallows the miracles.  I see prophetic voices that are drowned out by even just being one of many prophetic voices.  I see change happens too quickly for some so they clamp it down while it  happens too slowly for others and they fade away with no hope.

I ask my teens in youth group 'what is important', and they say, "meh, whatever".

For me, I just try to keep a hold on signs of transformation & hope around me.

Birthstone,

Out of the mouths of teens... I hear you 'cause I'm involved with a lot of teens these days, having two of them myself and I'm also involved in the scouts program. I hear a lot of that "whatever" attitude. It's so inspiring.

You say that "our efforts for compassionate living and meaning show signs of life; but I see equal disdain for relationship; personal gain trumping compassion & action; corrupt systems that swallow change." Again, I couldn't agree more. It seems that the worse things get in this world sometimes, the more conservative and selfish people become. Poverty and war, in that order, are threatening the very existence of our species.  Someone said, I think it was IannaWimsey in one of his posts this weekend (can't find it now), that those right-winged forces working against sharing, peace and open mindedness, are displaying their last ditch attempt to keep the status-quo.

I personally feel confident that the plans of restoration are working out as designed, and that this last ditch attempt was fully expected. I don't believe we're alone in our plight. Whether it be the externalization of the Hierarchy of Masters, or revelation of our Space Brothers of Light among us, or simply an great amplification of the good-will inherent in all of us, somehow we're going to get past this. If we don't, then the alternative is unthinkable.

Why this can't happen overnight and why so much suffering continues is not for me to say. I simply don't know. To everything there is a season, I suppose. The time just isn't right. Much of this time, however, is up to us, I believe. The free will of the people in the world could change it overnight. We just need to find that magic bullet of inspiration to do so. Maybe it's been going on for so long, thousands of years of repression, that we as a species have to be taken right the very edge before we wake up. Hopefully we're now reaching a crescendo of suffering that it'll end soon.
