Bible Geek?

Anyone else ever listened to this podcast or read any theological works by Robert M. Price? Price is a bible scholar and fellow of the Jesus Seminar who teaches in the US. I've known of him for years as an editor and writer in the field of pulp horror and fantasy but just recently found out about his theological credentials. It's an interesting and often amusing hour as he takes on various questions people have sent him. Do be warned, though, that he currently self-describes as a Christian atheist (he started out Baptist and was ordained as a pastor, flirted with UU'ism, ran his own church called The Grail for his family and friends, and currently attends an Episcopalian church) and loves debunking fundamentalist Bible scholarship so if you are of a conservative mindset, he is likely quite infuriating. Then again, he can probably get progressives' backs up at times too. He's not shy about his opinions.

The podcast's website is http://www.robertmprice.mindvendor.com/biblegeek.htm but click on the Recent podcasts RSS link. For some reason the main page is showing December episodes but there are more recent ones (up to the beginning of March) in the RSS feed.

He's not a significant Bible scholar, not in the class, say, of atheist, NT scholars Ed Sanders and Morton Smith.  But Price is a gifted speaker like Chris Htichens, and I like the way he debunks New Age books on Jesus like those of Acharya S.

Actually, comparing Bible Geek to a recent appearance on the HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast (www.hppodcraft.com, followed by a piercing scream), I'd say he's an even stronger speaker on the pulp side than on the theology side. He comes across as more laidback when discussing the story that's the subject of his appearance on the HPL podcast whereas Bible Geek (at least the one I've listened to) seems a bit curmudgeonly at times. Fer instance, his debunking of the Gospel of Judas (which I know that some here are fans of) in the March 14 podcast was good but definitely in the curmudgeonly category.

B - why do you say sasnders is an atheist - I studied with his brother and he was not, and every thing I have read would not make me apply that label

Smith might be but again you comment lacks epirical evidence and can be falsified.
