I was reminded of this song, after our congregational meeting on Sunday, so I thought I would share it with you....

So, you wonder why.
It was a meeting about a proposal to put an elevator in our building.
We had a lot of talk about the proposal. We had a lot of talk about the money. We had a lot of talk about the possible future use of the building, and the requirements to be accessable in 2012 if public use is required.
We had a lot of talk about a lot of stuff.
Then a person who has started coming to our church approached the mic.
His appearance causes some to avoid him.
He is known by this who run the local downtown programs.
His bringing his dog into the church causes some to avoid him, and raise their eyebrows.
But then he started to talk....
and he prayed for us
He prayed that we would do what was right for God and the church.
He prayed that God would give us blessings
He prayed that we would do what Jesus would..whatever that was...
He prayed.....and he prayed.
And in that time, God was with us......as somehow, we had forgotten to do just that.

It was....of course, we had spoken about the faith aspect from a justice standpoint. We were all very logical / practical folks, after all.
It was awesome in so many ways, that he & his dog approached the mic and then prayed for us.

Beautiful imagery Pinga. Thank you.
There are moments that make you stop and pause and ponder. I believe they are the best moments and treasure them.
One such moment, I captured on camera
Call it the perseverance of nature or the hand of God, it is for me a reminder that beauty can be found even in the cracks.

Pinga, thank you for sharing this. The imagery was wonderful and what he offered was "wow" and the message was right there. That ya'll, in your vote, got the message is also heartwarming.
LBMuskoka thanks for the imagery and your words and stirring those Pinga added.
Wow!

This instantly me made me think of Foy Vance and Gabriel and the Vagabond (among my fav songs -no matter how much I listen, I cry each and every single time)
Can someone who is brilliant, unlike me, imbed the YouTube Live version or the video version? The Live (my fav) gives his face, but even in the vidoe, you can hear the emotion....
It too is a wow!

Hi Pinga:
I love this song. It gives me the holy shivers.
Yes, God is one of us, and is us, and is in us and all around us.

Pinga - I remember "What If God Were One of Us" from many year ago. It was discussed on Spirit Connection at one time. I love it. It speaks so clearly about God with us, God beside us, God incarnate.
I used to wait to hear it in worship services, or find it in a hymn book. But it seemed to be forgotten. Thanks for posting it and reminding us again. God is one of us.
