How do we feed and nurture evil? Or maybe the question should be, why do we feed and nurture evil? What is in the human physche that stops us from confronting evil in its tracks ? I would like to hear your responses.

Since there is so much systemic/structural sinfulness or evil in the world it is often fed in the name of "maintaining the social order". OR sometimes it's because we delude ourselves(or allow ourselves to be deluded) about what is good in God's eyes. Or someitmes it is simple self-interest.

Hi crazyheart:
Evil, in my definition, is ungodliness.
We feed and nurture ungodliness by not feeding and nurturting godliness.
Unfortunately, some religious belief systems have errected barriers to godliness by putting God out of reach, out and up there, separate from us.
In order to think, act and feel godly, we have to re-claim God as the self-generative Kosmos of which we are an inseparable part. This puts God squarely into our laps, into our hearts, hands and minds, and causes us to feel, think and act godly, on God's behalf, as the divine beings that we ultimately are.

Crazyheart,
Fear, ignorance, manipulation and self worship are the main reasons that I have personally participated in evil throughout my life.
Whenever I was a victom of evil, at the time, life seemed unjust and cruel. Currently, I am thankful that I was "forced" into such situations, because in the end, the experiences gave me more than what they stole from me....I gained insight, knowledge, wisdom, humbleness and compassion.
Thanks,
Bishop B.

Greetings!
I think we feed and nurture evil whenever we give into the selfish part of us that feeds our desires and wants without any consideration of others and how our choices might affect them. We do this because we are human and we want what we want, when we want it, and sometimes despite who we might hurt.
I think as we grow and mature in our understanding of God, humankind, and ourselves we become better able to confront and reject evil. For me the presence of God in my life is what enables me to do so.
Hope, peace, joy, love ...
