I found this blog this morning and thought some of the people at the WC might have some thoughts and words about it. I seem to recall reading a book with a similar title many years ago and finding it fascinating. When I mentioned it to some of the congregation they acted horrified. Apparently I wasn't supposed to read 'books like that' or my faith might get sullied!
Looking forward to hearing your reactions to this little blog.
In some ways I agree with the article. But I didn't like his tone. I think the god of human constructed dogma is too small and divisive. I think that understanding of God is getting absorbed into the greater God as we increase in understanding of our relationship to everything. The teachings of Jesus and the Spirit that moves to a more peaceful, more humble, more just place- still exists, always exists.

Don't you hate it when you make a typo in an opening post?

If "too small" means "limited" then, yes, I agree. God, to me, is the limitlessly creative ALL—of which we are an inseparable and actively co-creative part.

i agree with the article...g_d is too small of a concept, too limiting
(and as some HP poster has already pointed out, the bigger g_d didn't even stop the Shoah...)

I think we sometimes stick God in a box and try to make God fit that box, sometimes in Procrustean fashion. That God is too small. A God who can encompass and create the marvellous universe in which we live is unlikely to fit in any neat theological or doctrinal box that we can come up with.
I am likely as guilty as any given my discomfort with the word "God". It is likely that I am rejecting the box, not the God, and I just haven't got around to thinking that way yet.

At first glance I read the title as: Is God Too Snail?
Well, God is not too snail. God is a snail, among a limitelss number of other things.

Every human effort to contain God in a definition or doctrine or description creates an image of God that is too small.

God is humble ... just to show mortals how perfect free-wiles can scro' things up ...
Without even a thought about it ...
This allows for God's dark side as shows up in Genesis as a study of human soul soma ... mind-brain maeli abilities? A poorly understood field to challenge those at the fringe understanding of unlying support systems ...
Some equine objectives are worthwhile ... get a grasp of psyche? That's soul mon ... and Sun Spots do cause dissonance ... dark energy at work?
